On April 13, the ‘Gangnam Style’ singer took the music world by storm again when he released his video for ‘Gentleman.’ However, the video is getting quite a bit of backlash!

PSY definitely knows how to make a music video — his first hit “Gangnam Style” has over one billion views on YouTube. Unfortunately, the video for “Gentleman” seems to be too controversial for a number of fans, as many feel it’s disrespectful toward women.

PSY ‘Gentleman’ Music Video Causes An Uproar

The music video for “Gentleman” surprised viewers when it premiered on April 13, but not in a good way.

Viewers took to Twitter to express their feelings about the new song, and many were saying that it’s offensive to women.

“PSY’s new dance move looks like Michael Jackson‘s Thriller. This music video is also super sexist. #gentleman,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

Other tweets included:

“Is it just me or is the video for PSY’s Gentleman all about abusing women?”

“The title is not Psy – Gentleman … but should be Psy – Women Manipulation.”

Ouch! In his defense, the irony is funny! The song was titled “Gentleman,” and the video was filled with PSY and co. doing various activities that were the opposite of gentlemanly — like pulling out a chair from underneath a girl and turning up the treadmill while a girl was running on it until she fell off.

At the end, he found the one girl who could put up with his crazy fun ways and even be playful back!

We totally get the irony and find it funny, but was it too much?

PSY Gets Some Positive Feedback

While “Gentleman’s” music video isn’t a favorite among fans, that doesn’t mean people didn’t watch!

The video got over 20 million views in the first 24 hours it was out, breaking the record for views in one day on YouTube. The record was previously set at eight million by Justin Bieber‘s “Boyfriend.”

“51 million views in 40 hours!! My God~!!!” PSY tweeted in the early hours of Monday, April 15.

The video is now up to 58 million views on YouTube, and is no. 21 on the Top 100 Singles Chart on iTunes.

Watch the video below and let us know if YOU think the video is sexist! Or do you think it’s all in good fun?
