After losing their daughter to suicide, Audrie’s family has found a way to remember Audrie and help other teens who face similar struggles.
Last September, Audrie Pott was sexually assaulted at a party, and her attackers took pictures of the assault. After the photos circulated around her school, Audrie committed suicide. In the wake of this horrific tragedy, Audrie’s parents have created a foundation to honor their daughter’s memory.
The Audrie Pott Foundation
Audrie’s family started the Audrie Pott Foundation, which will provide music and art scholarships. The foundation will also offer youth counseling and support to help victims with similar problems like Audrie.
“She was compassionate about life, her friends, her family, and would never do anything to harm anyone,” the website for the foundation said. “She was in the process of developing the ability to cope with the cruelty of this world but had not quite figured it all out.”
The site added, “Ultimately, she had not yet acquired the antibiotics to deal with the challenges present for teens in today’s society.”
Three Men Arrested In Audrie Pott Sexual Assault Case
On April 11, three 16-year-old boys were arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting Audrie. Two of the boys were Audrie’s classmates at Saratoga High School, while the third boy attended Christopher High School in Gilroy, CA.
The three boys are being accused of sexually assaulting Audrie after she got drunk and passed out at a house party. The boys took photos of the attack and distributed them via cell phone. The boys are currently being held at Juvenile Hall, and will have a detention hearing early next week.
