Harry, you’ve taken the high road since your split from Taylor in January, refusing to slam her back after all the public shots she’s taken at you. I hope the cruel diss directed at Taylor during an April 8 One Direction concert will be the first and last time it happens!
Harry Styles, during your band One Direction‘s performance of “Little Things” on April 8 in Newcastle, England, you and your bandmates surprised the audience when you called out Taylor Swift’s name after singing the lyrics, “I’m in love with you.” I watched it all play out on video, and I wasn’t impressed. Harry, until then, you’d only been publicly complimentary to Taylor since the split, despite the fact that she has repeatedly mocked you. Taking the high road made you look mature, so don’t start behaving like a juvenile jilted lover after all this time!
Harry Styles Dissing Taylor Swift?
Harry, your fans were taken by surprise at the concert when Taylor’s name was very clearly heard after you sang the words, “I’m in love with you.” It may have been a prank pulled by your bandmates (it’s unclear who said it), but since your breakup with Taylor in January, you’ve made nothing but nice remarks about Taylor.
“I thought her performance was really good,” you said about your ex after the Brit awards, where you both performed. “She looked great.”
Yes, Taylor has dissed you, Harry, over and over again in her performances, music videos and during interviews, even using a British accent to say a key line in “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” at the Grammy Awards. It must be hard to hear and see such things and keep your mouth shut, but it’s commendable. It shows your maturity and strength. At 19 years old, you have looked like the better person than your ex, who is 23.
Harry Styles Praises Taylor Swift
You also gave Taylor a positive shout out during an interview with London’s Capital FM on Feb. 17. You said, “She’s a great performer. … She’s always good on the stage. She’s been doing it a long time. She knows what she’s doing. It was just another good Taylor Swift performance. It was good.”
Here’s the thing, Harry: You and Taylor are young and talented, and you both will be big stars in the music and movie business for a long time. You will continue to run into each other for years, if not decades. There’s no point in ramping up a war of words. Yes, you two had a failed romance, but it wasn’t even a long-term relationship. Taylor was hurt, but time will heal her pain. So why would you want to make a chance run-in even more uncomfortable and embarrassing than it already is? It’s time for you two to bury the hatchet and move on with your lives.
You may not be able to control Taylor’s behavior, but you CAN control what you and your One Direction bandmates say. If you keep your lips zipped, it will send a very loud message to Taylor that she needs to do the same, or risk alienating both your sets of fans.
Harry Styles, Please Don’t Diss Taylor Swift Again
Harry, I believe that the silly diss flung at Taylor during your April 8 concert was a slip up. But please be a gentleman again, and make it your last.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Was the diss funny and deserved or immature and inappropriate? Let me know.
