Candice saved the best for last with her amazing performance on the April 10 episode of ‘American Idol’ — Mariah literally showered her in glitter. Has the winner been revealed? Watch her performance below!
The Top Six Sing Songs Written by Burt Bacharach
Angie Miller started off the night with “Anyone Who Had Heart.” “This one to me overall felt old-fashioned,” Nicki said. Keith said it sounded like she wasn’t that passionate about the song.
Amber Holcolm (who likes to eat frozen shrimp…) sang “I Say A Little Prayer For You.” Nicki was screaming: “I am bowing down for you right now little girl! You are unbelievable! You are everything! You just became my favorite girl in this competition!” Randy agreed: “The competition just started tonight!”
Lazaro Arbos sang “Close To You.” Yawn. “You know I love you as a person but all I can say was no, no, no. That was horrible,” Randy said. Keith and Mariah were going on and on about him singing in the wrong key. Collectively, they know it is time for him to go home!
Kree Harrison sang “What The World Needs Now.” “You know who you are. I loved the arrangement,” Mariah said. “I’m pretty sure every producer and writer is already lined up to give you material for your first album,” Nicki said. Randy dissed Lazaro, saying Idol is a singing competition and this girl can sing, unlike the last competitor. Ouch.
Janelle Arthur sang “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again.” Keith said it was beautiful while Nicki said it was really boring.
Candice Glover sang “Don’t Make Me Over” and got a standing ovation from all the judges. Randy said it was the best vocal of the night — simple and emotional but “so crazy good.” Mariah “100 percent agrees.” Keith said that performance put her in his top three.
The Top Six Sing Songs They Wish They Had Written
Angie sang “Love Came Down” on the piano. “I loved that for so many reasons. You tapped into the emotion. Something about you at the piano — you feel it more. Unbelievable. So good,” Randy raved. “You never lose at the piano,” Mariah said. Nicki said that with the piano, she can win it all because it’s something the other girls can’t do.
Amber sang Beyonce’s “Love On Top.” Mariah said she seemed very happy and that she was enjoying herself. “It was beautiful. Great song choice,” Keith said. “Beyonce — you better look out, honey child!” Nicki said.
Lazaro sang “Angels,” but I doubt it will be enough to save him. “The way the girls are singing is just so crazy good,” Keith said. “It was better,” Randy said. “This was a better range for you. You did redeem something from the last performance,” Mariah said. SUPER AWKWARD!
Kree sang “Help Me Make It Through The Night.” “So beautiful,” Randy said. “I think you’ll be around for a long time in the industry,” Nicki said. “That was a beautiful performance,” Keith said.
Janelle sang “The Dance” by Garth Brooks. Randy appreciated how connected she was with the song. Mariah “felt” it. “If I’m being honest, I don’t think it was enough for you to get a leg up on the other girls,” Nicki said.
Candice sang The Cure‘s “Love Song” to a standing ovation from the judges (she deserves to win!). Keith was literally bowing down and Mariah took the stage to shower glitter on her! Randy said, “One of the greatest performances in the history, 12 years, of Idol,” Randy said on behalf of the judges.
After Candice’s performance, she thanked her fans on Twitter!
