Courtland pleaded guilty to two of the six charges taken out against him by his wife Jenelle, even though she reportedly wanted to drop the legal action after they reconciled. Read on for more details.
Jenelle Evans took out six assault charges against her then-estranged husband Courtland Rogers — four accounts of assault on a female, and two counts of a battery on an unborn child — in January, but even though the couple reconciled two months later, Courtland still had to face the charges in court on April 8.
On April 8, Courtland pleaded guilty to just two of the charges, Jenelle’s lawyer Dustin R. T. Sullivan tells RadarOnline.com:
“Courtland Rogers pleaded guilty to one count of assault on a female and one count of assault on an unborn child.”
Even though Jenelle’s husband was facing up to a year in prison for the charges, his actual sentence was much less than that:
“He received a probation sentence of 24 months,” Dustin adds.
Jenelle Evans Tries To Drop Assault Charges
A source also told RadarOnline.com that Jenelle tried to drop the charges against her hubby, but the state picked them up instead.
“Jenelle already dropped the charges, but due to the severity of her claims the state has now picked them up and is going to get to the bottom of this,” the source said.
Regardless, it looks like Courtland will have to deal with two years of probation — most likely longer than his marriage to Jenelle will last.
