After the ‘Buckwild’ star tragically passed away on April 1, two production companies behind the hit MTV reality series are paying for his funeral so his cash-strapped family doesn’t have to. Read on for more details.
Shain Gandee‘s shocking and sudden death on April 1 left his West Virginia family devastated — and panicked to pay for his funeral. But after family members announced they were raising money for the MTV star’s ceremony, two production companies behind Shain’s show Buckwild revealed they were going to foot the bill.
J.P. Williams, CEO of Parallel Entertainment, a production company that produces the show along with Zoo Productions, told TMZ the reason why they wanted to pay for Shain’s funeral.
“Shain was a great kid with a big heart who had endless love for his mom and dad,” J.P. said. “I am from West Virginia and this show reminded me of how I grew up.”
Shain Gandee’s Funeral Fundraiser: Money Going Towards Other Funerals
On April 2, Shain’s cousin Ashley Gandee revealed she and her family were going to host an off-road trucking “mud run” event to raise funds for his funeral. There have also been funeral donation websites established in Shain’s honor, but TMZ is reporting the money raised by those efforts will be used to help Shain’s family pay off expenses they had to pay during his recovery effort.
Any extra money will be used to pay for the other two people who died in the tragic accident — Shain’s uncle, David Gandee, and Donald Robert Myers.
What do YOU think of the production companies paying for the funeral, HollywoodLifers? Do you think MTV as a company should chip in too?
