After Lamar was accused of committing fraud using the funds raised by his charity, Cathy’s Kids, Khloe took to her official page to fight back against the accusations! Find out what she said!

On March 28, ESPN accused Khloe Kardashian‘s husband Lamar Odom of using funds from his kid’s cancer charity for unrelated purposes. Cathy’s Kids, named after Lamar’s mother who died of stomach cancer, is a charity aimed at raising money for cancer research and underprivileged children.

Investigators for ESPN’s show Outside the Lines claimed the charity has raised $2.2 million since 2004, but hasn’t spent any of it on anything cancer-related. Instead, the investigators claim that at least 60 percent of the funds have been used to fund elite basketball travel teams, and that Lamar also used the charity’s money to pay his high school coach’s annual salary of $26,000.

Khloe Kardashian Slams Reports Of Charity Fraud

Infuriated by the claims, Khloe defended her husband and his charity on her official website on April 2.

“It is unfortunate that my husband has been the target of an attack on athletes’ charities, although he has personally contributed approximately $2.2 million to his foundation, Cathy’s Kids, to fulfill its charitable purposes that include helping underprivileged inner-city youth,” Khloe writes.

She adds, “The millions of dollars personally contributed by Lamar constituted more than 90% of the money raised by the foundation. All of the funds donated by Lamar and the other contributions to Cathy’s Kids were used for one of the foundation’s intended charitable purposes. Not one penny went to help Lamar personally or any member of his family. No charitable funds were misused, and the IRS has repeatedly given Cathy’s Kids a clean bill of health, confirming that there were no improprieties.”

Khloe ended by noting, “Cathy’s Kids was formed with several purposes in mind, including benefitting underprivileged youth and cancer research. A decision was ultimately made that the charity should focus on one of those purposes — to help enrich the lives of underprivileged inner-city youth. It accomplished that goal. Cathy’s Kids helped fund multiple AAU basketball teams providing underprivileged youth with opportunities enriching their lives, providing financial support for coaching and travel to tournaments, helping inner-city youth on a path toward success and leading many participants to go on to college.”

I read that Lamar donated the money that was in the charity. It sounds like it was spent helping children. I don’t see a problem. As he said when asked “it was my money”

Are you tired of going office daily? Earn 50$ per hour working from home with Google! I’ve made $64,000 so far this year working online and I’m a full time student. I’ve made such great money. It’s really user friendly and I’m just so happy that I found out about it. Here is what I do,

Wow crooks come in many forms and money is a motivator. Shame on them for lying and not using the funds for the research cancer. You can not set up a charity for one thing then use it for another that is what you would call fraud. But, hey dem rich, dem get away with it.

Lamar’s high school basketball coach that worked for the charity got $72,000 a year not $26,000.

It doesn’t matter who donated the money the website had people believing the money was going to the foundation for cancer research not to fund elite basketball teams. I read the the lone man who worked at Cathy’s Kids got a yearly salary of $72,000 and that is where the bulk of the $2.2 million dollars went. I also read the man is a good friend of Lamar and was best man at his wedding. Also, Lamar’s personal website for Cathy’s Kids has been inactive for a long time but Khloe and Lamar are, or should I say were, selling their personal clothes and accessories on Khloe’s E-bay account with the understanding the money would go for cancer research to help Cathy’s Kids….

I see the website went down pretty quick. Why would it be down if nothing improper was going on? If Lamar and Khloe wanted to raise money for elite basketball teams it should have been included in the wording on his personal website and the E-bay website Khloe set up. Helping inner city youths is entirely different from doing research to help cancer patients.

If this money was to take care’f kids with cancer then it should be so!. If another attention of pushing up kidz with bball interest v come, then create another avenue 4 them n not v anything to do with dat of d cancer. Coz wat I see here is dat, all goes 4 charity but d question is, ‘charity on wat?’. Remember u tagged ‘kids with cancer’ so don’t divert to something else.

Seems to me his charity changed to focus more on underprivileged youth and helping them play basketball and less towards cancer research. That seems fine to me. Companies, charities change all the time.

And the money raised was his money. Most celebrity foundations are made of of mostly that rich celeb’s money. This isn’t much of a scandal.

Lamar has gone through a lot of tragedies. He’s no crook. I’m on his side.

The money raised is not his money it belongs to the charity. Most of the money was raised by donations and not by Lamar giving them money. Khloe is a liar!

Most celeb charities aren’t made up of just the celebrities money, it comes from donations from people. Where are you getting your facts from Sagal? Cause they aren’t very accurate

Except that Harry Forrest, president of the Amateur Athletic Union, said in a statement, “Cathy’s Kids has never donated to us. They have never, ever contributed to us. On Sunday morning it was mentioned that Cathy’s Kids has contributed to AAU Basketball teams … that is an incorrect statement.”

Once a charity is established and their mission statement is set — they DON’T change direction on a whim. Earmarking money for research and then switching to supporting inner-city kids is a clear 180 from the original goal. And not covering this change of direction with donors, Board Members and officially is an egregious error and should be investigated.

More to the point, the AAU has released a statement saying, “They never received funds from Lamar Odom’s charity.”

So all of Khloe’s peace and love — no hate is pure b.s. Lamar has been going downhill since he linked up with this greedy, greedy family!!!

I don’t get it… you start a charity for cancer ….people sending money for that purpose and then it seems that all money went to another cause…. fishy……and with the Kardashians name attach to it not very good PR. We all know that the Kardashians are immoral and GREEDY so nothing would be surprising. ANy charity should be very clear on where the monies go especially when you talk cancer. People will always send more money for that particular cause. MB

Only fault ESPN found were that no funds were given to research. Lamar through his rep stated that the vision was streamlined to only focus on under privilege youth.

Good for her. I hope this doesn’t stop Khloe and Lamar from giving back. IRS have stated over and over the funds were used appropriately.

It can take the IRS years to catch fraud in a charity organization. Don’t think cause they didn’t get caught they aren’t guilty.
