‘The Voice’ Recap: Judith Hill Crushes Competition, Wows All 4 Coaches

NBC

The season premiere of ‘The Voice’ was full of fierce competition, and not just between the contestants! All four coaches were desperate to get the best singers on their team — especially the last contestant of the night.

Season four of The Voice brought out tons of talented stars March 25, and coaches Adam LevineShakiraBlake Shelton and Usher went head to head to begin building the best team.

‘The Voice’ Coaches: Most Talented Coaches On TV?

The night started with a performance from all four coaches singing a perfectly fitting rendition of The Beatles‘ “Come Together.”

While all four stars harmonized, they also all took on an instrument — Adam rocked out on the drums; Usher, popped collar and all, jammed on the guitar;  Blake also strummed a guitar; and Shakira did a sexy dance before beginning to play a harmonica.

Usher Plays The Justin Bieber Card

Once the performances began, the claws came out for the coaches.

Not to my surprise at all, when Usher was trying to convince singers to join his team, he pulled out his best trick – he discovered Justin Bieber! While that is pretty awesome to have on your resume, it actually didn’t do the trick for 16-year-old Danielle Bradbery.

Danielle, who sang Taylor Swift‘s “Mean,” took the stage for her first ever performance in front of an audience, and still managed to turn the chairs of all three men!

“He’s actually in the back,” Usher joked to Danielle about the Biebs, after letting her know he could also probably get her in to Justin’s concerts and award shows.

However, even at 16, the adorable girl had to follow her heart … and it didn’t go to Justin. “My heart goes out to Blake!” she decided, before running and hugging the country star.

The Morgan Twins Shock The Coaches

The night wasn’t all about the men though, when two gorgeous women took the stage.

The Voice saw yet another first when The Morgan Twins took the stage. The stunning 27-year-old sisters sang Alicia Keys‘ “Fallen,” causing all four coaches to turn around for the first time of the season.

Seeing the surprise on the coaches’ faces one by one when seeing the twins was priceless, and almost as hilarious as Blake’s reaction, comparing them to “double mint twins” and saying they were “a dream come true for most men.”

However, after some bickering and back and forth, the girls – to my surprise – also chose to go with Blake!

Judith Hill – Best Singer Of The Night Wows The Coaches

Just when I thought the night couldn’t get any better, Judith Hill took the stage. The contestant was called to be a background singer on Michael Jackson‘s This Is It tour, and rehearsed with the King of Pop the last two months of his life. After his passing, she was asked to sing at his service.

She then discovered how much she wanted a solo career.

She performed an amazing rendition of Christina Aguilera‘s song “What A Girl Wants,” causing Usher and Adam to turn around almost immediately, followed by Shakira and Blake. Before the song ended, Adam was not only standing, but standing on top of his chair.

“You are the first person that’s ever come on this show an done a Christina song as well as Christina Aguilera,” Adam said, which wrapped up the performance perfectly. “As far as I’m concerned, I’m running for President right now,” Adam said, to explain how much he wanted Judith on his team.

However, Usher was ready with a comeback: “But I’m looking for the first lady, because he woulda never made it without her.”

Unfortunately, as clever as Usher was, Judith went with … Team Adam, becoming his first team member!

Overall, the night was filled with tons of amazing singers, leaving Blake leading the pack with three team members, followed by both Usher and Shakira with two members, and Adam with the one and only, Judith.

So, what did YOU think of the premiere, HollywoodLifers?

I don’t think that it fair to the other contestants to have Judith , a professional that sang with Michael Jackson.

People need to chill about professional experience. News flash! The past three Voice winners have been professional singers with record deals, gone on tours, and sang with the likes of Alicia Keys. The show’s called “The Voice” not “Who Should Be More Qualified To Be On The Voice”

I think that people are turned off to Judith Hill hot because she has professional experience but because her decision to appear on The Voice–and The Voice’s decision to highlight her as the final act–feels like a business decision. Plus, all reality shows are manipulated, and Hill’s participation reeks of manipulation. Why sign a record deal and have a record that goes nowhere when you can appear on The Voice–with the producers of the show pushing you–and reach an audience of millions. Even if Hill does not win, she wins.

It’s called a win/win. And any decent human being would never take advantage of a win/win situation. Only people with sob stories and underdogs can grab America’s attention. However, you do make a compelling argument based on reasonable speculation w/o facts.

What is with all the hate for Usher – what have you done, accomplished, who hAve you discovered, what songs hAve you recorded and how many awards do you have?? He was fantastic, witty, quick with the come backs against the seasoned coaches Adam and Blake. I thought the show had great chemistry tonight. Looking forward to seeing the season through. It ain’t over till its over.

Within the nex t few weeks there will be many more singers who will give tonight’s singers a run for the money. It never fails.

This is NOT necessarily a show for “new” talents. The majority of the performers have performed elsewhere……this is NOT American Idol ( and I’m glad).

Judith is a very talented singer, however, she has already been presented with many opportunities outside of The Voice. I thought that this show was about people with undiscovered talent being granted an opportunity that they may have never got otherwise. I was a bit turned off tonight, though, Adam did keep me tuned in!

You don’t understand The Voice, Many are already polished singers who have toured, sang elsewhere. This is not Anerican Idol. And Judith is undiscovered, does being a background singer make you a discovery? I think not.

Judith Hill is a pro. She has no business being on this show competing against amateurs. We will not be watching the rest of the season as the winner has already been proclaimed. Is this a cheap ratings grab? What about all those other kids. They do not stand a chance. Who thought this was a good idea.

Again, most of these commentators don’t understand The Voice. One of the winners from the voice was a background singer for Alicia Keys. Judith has every right to be on this show, People read the criteria for this show before putting these contestants on blast. Lastly, it is quite obvious that the ones in the blind auditions have performed for some time, which makes the show entertaining instead of listening through some of the horrific auditions on American Idol, and some of those ppl make it to the LIVE SHOWS!!!

What’s Usher’s problem? Doesn’t he realized that his career was over since he discovered that poop Bieber? He’s obviously clueless. Girls do NOT like Bieber!!! LOL! It’s very obvious to everyone. He created a fake fan base of retard little girls for Bieber and believed his own scheme. Poor thing! No one likes him obviously, except for that little twat who has no talent and sang Bieber’s “Girlfriend”.

The premiere was great except for Usher and him mentioning Bieber all the time which is obviously working against him. Those that has potential all react to Usher like “Ewwww!” No one takes him seriously.

the other contestants might as well quit none of them stand a chance against judith hill no matter how good they are and there are a lot of good singers cause the michael jackson fans will put judith hill to the top because of her connections with the late michael jackson and her role in this is it..it isnt fair but hey thats the way life is..the voice may not have many viewers left to sing their praises after tonight..others feel its all in who ya know or knew that will make ya big not what they have to offer

Hahaha! On the contrary The Voice will soar in ratings because of her and her connection to MJ. MJ’s fans are aged 15 – 50 very much the age range of prime time viewers. It’s Usher’s presence and his constant mentioning Bieber’s name that will make the show flop cuz you know all TV shows that Bieber had ever been in had Flopped!

Who says or whatever gave you the impression that this show is about amateurs and new talents? Your ego? I thought this show is call “The Voice”. Find me a clip of judges saying something like, “We’re looking for the next amateur talent, and new talented people with no experience.”

Go watch American Idol and X-Factor for “New Talents”
