'Pretty Little Liars' Season Finale Recap: Red Coat Is Finally Revealed

Who came back from the dead? Which couple called it quits? And who is the girl in the red coat? Spoilers ahead!

To say the March 19 season finale of Pretty Little Liars was the most mind-blowing episode of the series to date would be a grAve understatement. After sorting through a few confusing revelations — one of the biggest being that Spencer (Troian Bellisario) was the person who kidnapped Malcolm last week — the girls decided they could finally trust Spencer again. So they joined pretty little forces to take down Mona (Janel Parrish) and unmask the girl in the red coat. And she turned out to be…

Alison (Sasha Pieterse)!

Yes, the long-dead friend of the liars turned out to be not-so-dead after all. Spencer, Hanna (Ashley Benson) and Mona all claim they saw her, shortly after the girls were trapped in a house fire. And considering Aria (Lucy Hale) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) were willing to believe them, I’m thinking it might have actually been her!

Aria & Ezra Break Up — Again!

I know it feels like Aria and Ezra (Ian Harding) reach their emotional breaking points every week — and, to be fair, maybe they really do — but this time, their breakup felt real. Ezra needed the substitute teaching position, and the only way he could do it was if he stopped seeing Aria for good.

“I love you just as much as I always have, and that’s why I want you to take this job,” she told him through tears.

“I love you,” he replied. More tears.

This might have been Ezria’s saddest weekly breakup yet! I wonder if their breakup on the fourth season premiere this June will be even sadder.

Toby Is Alive!

Remember when Spencer found that body in the woods and thought it was Toby (Keegan Allen)? Then the police found that same body in the woods, and the girls agreed it was Toby? Well, apparently they were all wrong, because Toby showed his pretty little face this week during a diner meet-up with Mona. Only it wasn’t Mona — it was Spencer!

The newly reunited — and totally alive — “Spoby” retreated to a nearby motel, where they did the only thing we really want “Spoby” to ever do: They humped like bunnies! And yes, they took their black hoodies off. Let’s not be crazy now.

Later, when the girls ambushed Mona, Toby helped Spencer escape the house before it was set on fire. But a chance meeting in the woods left him unconscious, and holding the lighter that started the fire! Something tells me there’ll be more juvenile hall — but hopefully less do-rags — in Toby’s future.

What’s In The Trunk?

I’m still not sure where Jenna (Tammin Sursok) has been all this time, but she returned to Rosewood this week — and she brought friends! Throughout the course of the episode, it was revealed that she has strong connections to Shana (Aeriel Miranda) and Melissa (Torrey DeVitto). To make things even more complicated, the girls all have ties to Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson), as well!

At the end of the episode — after all the red-coat madness — the girls found Wilden’s car, recently pulled from the lake. Along with the footage of Hanna’s mom hitting Wilden with her car, there was also footage of Jenna and Shana retrieving his body from the scene of the crime!

And when the girls got yet another mysterious text from “A,” they popped the trunk to discover… well, we don’t know yet. That’s one revelation they’re saving for the fourth season premiere this June.

In one of the latest episodes at the end and it confuses me that they both have black gloves on so mabey they wanted you to think that red coat and the two people may be all in charge cause they had to make a twist dont fall for it ! these are some people i think those people could be in the black gloves :mabeyMona and shanna?? or wilden ?? Mabey ce ce ??all we know for sure is that ally Is red coat !!!

It would have been a great series if we all knew who A was working with in time and why was A always onestep ahead of them always
Why was A always where these girls were there was no privacy for the girls always and A would see them always everywhere
Its boring when you always think we are finally getting who A is yet it will be a dead end
What was so much of a secret that these girls couldn’t confide in their prarents always sorry icant tell

Im loving this show but I cant watch it where I am cos they dont put it on T.V so I have to buy it tomorrow Ahgggggg!!!!!!!!

I think either cece or Jason is in the trunk…. and idk if they are going to put Courtney in the show or not but redcoat is one of those two

I apologies for not placing the word ‘”SPOILER” before my post! I eill take that into consideration next time. Anyway here it goes:
1) For all of those ppl that don’t think Ali could have a twin, please reconsider. If we have learned anything from this show, it is that ANYTHING is possible. Besides oh sorry, MAD SPOILER!!! In the books, the only ones that knew about the twin was Melissa, Jenna, and of course the DiLaurentis’ family. Ali’s family brought home the psycho twin Courtney from Radley and they where going to be a big happy family until ish went wrong. And instead of the right twin staying, the wrong twin did. That is why the girls where suddenly friends with Ali.
2) Cece and Shana are new characters introduced sometime later in the season so my question to you is, characters come and go, why can’t there be a twin? Maybe just MAYBE the writers wanted to pay homage to the story that they had veered so far away from. Because oh yeah SPOILER, both Toby and Jenna die in the books and dont come back.
3) I would LOVE to know what the whole hand coming out from the ground was at the very end. I wonder if that was Wilden.

People need to put “SPOILER” before their comment if they’re going to talk about something in the books aka a twin? for those of us who have not read the books just in case! So many unanswered questions! Im glad Toby is still alive and good!

Really disappointed with the episode. I almost felt like the writers have lost control of the plot and have quickly tried to tie up loose ends and create new twists. The acting was below standard in comparison to several weeks ago. I love the show but am starting to get frustrated with the storyline and not in a good way…who is the mastermind behind A? The question just never gets answered? i am worried the story line will go on and on, could it be this person? No/yes/maybe/ sort of…Please don’t end the show similar to gossip girl with seasons that carried on and then ended so flat I didn’t even care who gossip girl was…

that would be greatmabey ezra can be -A with mona and a freind from em and a freind from spencer so there would be a freind from every one for pay back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
