It’s been a while since we’ve seen Justin on the big screen! Do you think he’s got what it takes to carry a musical?
Justin Timberlake may be all about his “Suit & Tie” these days, but could his new image lead to a high-profile movie role? Justin, 32, is being considered to play Daddy Warbucks in the upcoming big-screen remake of Annie, Page Six is reporting, a project that already has some huge Hollywood hitters attached.
Not only is Annie being produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z — one of Justin’s good buddies, considering they’re about to go on tour together — but it’s also starring Quvenzhané Wallis, who was just nominated for an Academy Award! Sadly, the nine-year-old Beasts of the Southern Wild Star didn’t win Best Actress, but she still managed to steal the show.
A rep for Sony tells Page Six that the rumors are “not true,” but hey, stranger things have happened!
A Brief History Of ‘Annie’
Rumors of an Annie remake first circulated in Jan. 2011, with Will’s daughter Willow Smith, then 10 years old, slated to play the title character. That was back when her music career was taking off, following the release of her debut single “Whip My Hair.”
In December of that year, with Willow still attached to star, HollywoodLife.com exclusively reported that Jaden Smith was angling to get a part in the movie for X Factor finalist Astro.
But Willow ended up backing out of the movie in Feb. 2013, being replaced by Quvenzhane.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Justin would make a good Daddy Warbucks, or would that be a total miscast? Drop a comment with your thoughts!
