Nicki Minaj was 15 minutes late to the live episode of ‘American Idol’ on March 13. Were YOU mad she wasn’t on time?
After Nicki Minaj was late to the live show because of traffic, she joined fellow judges Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson on the panel to watch the Top 10 sing live! Who do YOU think did the best tonight, HollywoodLifers?
The Top 10 had to sing songs previously sung on Idol.
The Night Starts Off Slow
Curtis Finch Jr. sang “I Believe” by Fantasia. Keith said he always picks the right song and that he looked great! “I would caution you to try something a little bit different,” Randy warned.
Janelle Arthur — Randy said it wasn’t the greatest song choice. “I love the raw quality of your voice,” Mariah said.
Devin Velez sang “Temporary Home” by Carrie Underwood. “That was not one of your better performances,” Keith said. “That was crazy. I disagree with everything you said [Keith]! You sound great! I loved the song,” Nicki said. “Please keep doing what you do,” raved Mariah.
The Competition Starts Now
Angie Miller sang “I Surrender” by Celine Dion, sang by Kelly Clarkson. “This is really random but I love the way you walk in heels. You are perfection. The voice is flawless. You are a superstar,” Nicki said. Randy said, “The competition starts now.” “Steller,” said Mariah.
Paul Jolley sang “Amazed” by Lonestar. “I think it was a great song choice. I think you’re listening to all of u. Very nice,” Randy said.
Candice Glover sang a song originally sang on Idol by Jordin Sparks. She got a standing ovation from the audience, Keith, Nicki and Randy! “That was my favorite performance that you’ve ever done,” Nicki said. Mariah said she didn’t stand up because her skirt is too tight but that Candice deserved a standing ovation.
The Songs Get Personal
Lazaro Arbos sang “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson. “This was probably my least favorite from you, babe,” Nicki said. “Go back to being confident and feeling that your great.” Randy said his pitch was all over the place.
Kree Harrison sang “Crying” by Roy Orbison, previously sung by Carrie Underwood. “If you made a record today, I would buy it,” Keith said. Nicki compared her performance to …buttermilk pancakes with syrup?
Burnell Taylor — “That was magnetic,” Keith said. “You’re well on your way,” Nicki said.
Amber Holbomb sang “A Moment Like This” by Kelly Clarkson. “I thought that was really beautiful,” Keith said. “That was the best performance of the night,” Nicki said. “Hashtag #pow,” Mariah said. Mmmkay.
