There has never been a dull moment in the Miley-Liam relationship! It’s been just over three years — wow, that long? — since the couple went public, and we’ve been there along the way for every second. Now, with the relationship seemingly doomed, we thought it’d be nice to relive the whole thing!

Though Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met and began spending time together in the summer of 2009 filming their movie The Last Song, it took quite a long time for them to admit it. The couple finally confirmed all the dating rumors in Mar. 2010 when they made out in front of everyone at Elton John’s Oscars after-party. And since then, it’s been one wild ride.

It didn’t take long for Miley, 20, and Liam, 23, to hit a bump in the road — Miley had to deny breakup rumors in June 2010, only for them to be confirmed in August. They quickly got back together… only to split up AGAIN in November! HollywoodLife.com reported then that Liam was getting extremely jealous about Miley’s on-screen flirting with LOL co-star, Douglas Booth.

The sexy couple remained split for several months, and just when we started to give up hope, they reconciled! Though we didn’t know for sure until April 2011, Miley and Liam got back together around Valentine’s Day 2011. How romantic! Reportedly, Miley was so inspired by her parents, Billy Ray and Tish, getting back together that it made her reconsider her stance on Liam.

Since then, it’s mostly been smooth sailing for the couple. Miley was Liam’s arm candy all throughout The Hunger Games hype, and Liam stood by Miley’s side during her marijuana scandal in November 2011. The couple never seemed stronger.

Wedding Bells For Miley & Liam?

So it was no surprise when in June 2012, the couple announced their engagement. On May 31, Liam proposed with a 3.5-carat Neil Lane diamond ring. “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Miley told Us Weekly at the time.

Though reportedly, none of their friends expected the engagement to last long, Miley and Liam proved the haters wrong.

Though there were a few minor bumps due to Miley’s tendency to overshare, for the most part the couple dabbled with aggressive PDA-ing instead of breakup rumors. To be honest, Miley and Liam began facing more secret wedding rumors than rumors of their split.

One of the bigger moments of speculation came on Christmas of 2012 when a picture of Liam visiting Miley’s family was snapped with Liam wearing a new ring on his left ring-finger. Was it a sign? It turned out not to be, but it wasn’t long before MORE evidence of a wedding seemed to surface. Talking to Cosmopolitan magazine in January 2013, Miley called Liam her “hubby” and literally said she was married! Apparently, what she MEANT to say was that she felt like she was as good as married.

And just like that, it all started to fall apart. Rumors of a rocky romance began to flare up on Oscars Weekend 2013 when Liam was spotted out with hot older actress January Jones. The next day, when Miley attended Elton John’s after-party without her beau, the whispers intensified. Amidst talks that the wedding was being called off, Miley took to Twitter to strongly deny it, but on Mar. 6, the Hannah Montana actress was photographed walking into a recording studio WITHOUT her engagement ring.

Why on Earth would she do that? In the wake of the rumors, Liam fled back to his homeland Australia to get away from the drama. While on an Aussie beach, he too was seen without his ring on. Now today, Mar. 13, a source tells Page Six that Miley and Liam “are very much apart.”

The source continues, “Miley and Liam are done; it’s over. She likes to party hard and can be pretty wild. It became a problem for him.”

Wow, what a roller coaster. Since hooking up, Miley and Liam have been a healthy source of drama. Whether being on or off, starting scandals, or denying wedding rumors, it’s always something new for them. We’re sad to see them split. But you know what? We’ve been here before with these two, so don’t say it’s over until it’s actually over.
