Kim Kardashian has been working hard at the gym to stave off the dreaded baby weight, but after a frightening miscarriage scare on her way back from Paris, doctors told the busy mom-to-be to rest up and slow down her busy schedule — and an expert reveals to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY why working out too much can be dangerous.
“The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that pregnant women exercise at a moderate level for 30 minutes or more per day on most, if not all, days of the week throughout pregnancy, including second trimester,” Leah Keller, personal trainer who is an expert in pre- and postnatal fitness, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“The key here is moderate. Any workout during pregnancy should leave a woman feeling invigorated and energized – never drained,” Leah continues. “Listening to your body during pregnancy is crucial. It’s especially important to stay well hydrated and avoid overheating.”
Kim Kardashian: Working Out Hard To Avoid Weight Gain
Even though Kim has enlisted the help of celebrity fitness guru Tracy Anderson to help her pregnancy workout routine, she is constantly seen headed to and from the gym. A source close to the reality star also revealed to Star magazine that because she’s so afraid of gaining weight, she is working out extra hard with more than one trainer.
But that can prove dangerous, Leah says.
“One common risk throughout pregnancy is dehydration, and this can be heightened when exercising,” Leah adds. “Listen to your body. Rest when tired. Overtraining is never a good idea, especially during pregnancy.”
