The pregnant reality star hasn’t slowed down her traveling routine since finding out she was expecting, but experts reveal to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY why traveling on such long flights could be harmful for her pregnancy!
Kim Kardashian is still enjoying her jet-setting lifestyle in her second trimester — she and boyfriend Kanye West flew to Rio de Genero in February, and they attended Paris Fashion Week the first week of March — but while flying is technically allowed by doctors until the last month of pregnancy, Kim’s hectic traveling schedule could be taking a toll on her pregnancy health.
On a long flight back from Paris to Los Angeles, Kim started to feel sick and was worried something was seriously wrong with her pregnancy. Sources told Page Six Kim was afraid she could be suffering from a miscarriage. Luckily everything turned out fine for mom and baby, but doctors warned her to get some rest — and her jet-setting lifestyle could have been part of the problem.
“Pregnancy requires immense energy and resources from the body. While pregnant, it is imperative to create time for rest and, if air travel is necessary, to consume plenty of water and adequate dietary salt to maintain hydration,” Leah Keller, personal trainer who is an expert in pre- and postnatal fitness, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Kim Kardashian’s Long Flights Could Lead To Blod Clots
Aside from possible dehydration, sitting for long flights, including the nearly 11-hour flight from Paris to Los Angeles means a long time sitting still — which could lead to life-threatening blood clots.
“The long trips and seated is a problem because women need to get up and circulate their legs. That can be life threatening because of veep venous thromomvosis,” Dr. Tara Solomon, Medical Director of The Women’s Wellness Center of South Florida, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
“When you are sitting in a chair when a woman is pregnant, her uterus sits on the vena cava and the aorta. If you compress these two the blood cannot flow back as well. This can lead to blood clots in her legs,” Dr. Solomon, who doesn’t treat Kim, adds.
Luckily, Kim is taking it easy after her Paris trip, and is doing fine according to her Twitter feed. We just hope the rest of her pregnancy goes smoothly!

When I was I pregnant my doctor told me I can only fly the 2nd trimester only. Too dangerous to fly 1st and last. It really annoys me that Kim was blessed with a gift (which she wanted btw) and she doesn’t seem to be taking her pregnancy seriously, I hope for that baby’s sake she wakes up and comes back to reality once that baby arrives! Although I think Courtney’s parenting skills can be a little dramatic (ie.. no under arm while breast feeding)she is definitely a good mother and Kim needs to take some notes from her sister.
