The funny ladies are firing back after Taylor suggested they’re going to hell for goofing on her.

Remember that time Taylor Swift couldn’t take a joke? Sorry, let me be more specific: Remember at the 2013 Golden Globes, when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler warned Taylor to “stay away from Michael J. Fox‘s son?” In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Taylor slammed the hostesses for their remark, saying, “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” Thankfully, Tina and Amy have a better sense of humor.

“If anyone was going to get mad at us, I thought it would be James Cameron,” Tina told Entertainment Tonight at the NYC premiere of Admission. ”I did not see that one coming. It was a joke. It was a lighthearted joke.”

Amy, for whatever reason, was more sympathetic to Taylor — who really should just be able to take a freakin’ joke.

“Aw, I feel bad if she was upset,” Amy told The Hollywood Reporter. “I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.”

Why Taylor Not Getting Amy & Tina’s Joke Is Kind Of Hilarious

There’s a beautiful irony in Taylor’s remark about “women who don’t help other women,” though I’m sure it would go right over Taylor’s boy-crazy head. Not only have Tina and Amy made incredible strides for women in their careers — Tina has helped paved the way for female comedy writers, while Amy’s Smart Girls YouTube channel is devoted to the empowerment of young girls — but Taylor has literally done the opposite.

Taylor’s entire career is based around letting boys and relationships determine her happiness — hence every song she’s ever written. Ever. Basically, she’s the reason guys think girls are crazy stalkers, so she has no right to talk about “women who don’t help other women.”

HollywoodLifers, whose side are you on? Does Taylor need to learn to take a joke, or were Tina and Amy more hurtful than they — or I — realized? Drop a comment with your take on the situation!

To be honest, that was a pretty rude joke. It was the first time Taylor Swift went to the Golden Globe and she got dissed by the hosts. If I am Swift, I would be as angry as she is. Tina and Amy was just too rude in this joke. ‘Why you gotta be so mean?’

i completely agree. taylor swift teaches young girls that they HAVE to be in a relationship and HAVE to have the perfect boyfriend to be happy. she is the opposite of a feminist, and can’t seem to wrap her head around the fact that if she’s not happy with herself, no man will ever be happy with her, either.
personally, i’m all for her romantic failures continuing, as it may lead to a drug/ alcohol fueled binge which ultimately will result in her timely death at age 30.
but one can only hope.

I think taylor has done a lot for women / young girls. She’s in the pop industry and her image is totally the opposite to most singers who at her age were wearing barely any clothes in their video clips. She doesn’t have to sexualise herself to sell records like others do. I also think your been a little hard on her as she is just singing about romance.. something every girl can relate to and that doesn’t necessarily mean it determines her happiness. I think your article has a very simplistic and generalist view of Taylor.

HAHA good grief… taylor swift isn’t even in the same ball park. while shes busy chasing whatever guy is currently “in” Tina Fey and Amy are actually being inspiring role models. The political work that Tina has been doing for woman’s rights is phenomenal and it’s just so great to hear it from a woman, because of her I feel like there is someone out there that I can relate to, who is speaking for me.

i’m sorry i wasn’t aware this was an opinion piece. if you’re gonna write and try giving the cold, hard facts, leave your opinions out of it. ESPECIALLY if they’re rude.

Taylor overreacted a lot! Still, I get why she did so. People are so rude when they talk about her an boys. Amy was right to feel bad. Tina should, too. Why did they even have to talk about Taylor?! They were just setting up a huge mess. Taylor Swift is amazing!!!!!!
