‘American Idol’ contestant Zoanette Johnson should not have been in the Top 10 girls this season, and it was never more apparent than her terrible performance on March 5. Here’s why she should be voted off the show right now.
Despite being one of the most memorable contestants of the season, Zoanette Johnson needs to be booted from American Idol ASAP. On Feb. 27, Zoanette secured her position as one of the Top 10 girls by singing Elton John’s “Circle Of Life.” On March 5, her horrible performance really made it clear the judges made a big mistake.
Zoanette has definitely provided an entertainment factor — making Keith Urban fall out of his chair and Nicki Minaj cry, but her rendition of Tina Turner‘s “What’s Love Got To Do With It” made it apparent that her top 10 spot was undeserved.
I was cringing as she sang — thinking that I’ve heard better at a karaoke bar. One YouTube commenter even said, “When she does vibrato, it sounds like there’s water in her throat and she just gargles it.”
Don’t get me wrong, I love her energy and enthusiasm and really enjoyed when she let loose on the drums during Hollywood week. She does have talent, but is she one of the most talented singers in the entire country? No.
Her Original Audition Didn’t Wow Me
Actually, when I go back and watch her audition to the National Anthem, I highly doubt she would have even made it through were it not for her “star” quality. She has moments of likeability but we have to remember that American Idol is about finding a great voice and a great singer, not just a star.
Former contestants Melinda Ademi, Juliana Chahayed, Rachel Hale and even guy contestant Bryant Tadeo deserved spots above Zoanette, in my opinion.
Watch her Top 10 performance below and tell us, HollywoodLifers, did you think she deserved to be in the Top 10 girls?
