The cast of the upcoming 16th season of Dancing with the Stars was finally revealed Feb. 26 — but according to a new report, it could have looked very different! Not only were Olympic gold medalists Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps asked to join the cast, but a source tells Us Weekly that former Bachelorette Emily Maynard tried “desperately” to throw her name into the hat as well. Clearly, not all went according to plan.
Emily Maynard Snubbed By ‘DWTS’
While ABC-owned Dancing with the Stars often recruits former Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants, none made the cut this year — though current Bachelor Sean Lowe is rumored to be a surprise addition — and one former Bachelorette is fuming over the snub!
Emily, the single mom who looked for love on the eighth season of The Bachelorette, is reportedly “angry” about not being asked to join the cast. A source tells Us that Emily “desperately wanted” a chance to dance, but it looks like she’ll have to wait her turn.
Ryan Lochte & Michael Phelps Pass On ‘DWTS’
It also sounds like Dancing with the Stars was hoping to strike gold by recruiting Olympic swimmers Ryan and Michael for season 16 — but they both passed!
But don’t weep just yet, Lochte Nation, as your Prince of the Pool will still be all over your TV this season. His new E! reality series What Would Ryan Lochte Do? premieres this April.
As for Michael… well, I’m sure those super-annoying Subway commercials will also be running all season. So get excited!
