Oscar Pistorius is planning on holding a memorial for his deceased girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Feb. 26 at his uncle’s home in South Africa. Read on for all the details.
South African athlete Oscar Pistorius, 26, who shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, 29, on Valentine’s Day and is currently out on bail, will hold an intimate memorial for the slain model tonight, Feb. 26.
Oscar Pistorius’ Memorial Service For Reeva Steenkamp
Vuma Reputation Management released a statement on Oscar and his family’s behalf, saying, “Oscar specifically requested the memorial service as he continues to grieve and remains in deep mourning for the loss of his partner Reeva. Since it is such a sensitive issue, Oscar has asked for a private service with people who share his loss, including his family members who knew and loved Reeva as one of their own.”
The evening service will be held at Oscar’s uncle’s home in Pretoria, where the athlete has been staying since he has been out of jail on bail.
A private memorial service was held for Reeva one week ago on Feb.19, near Port Elizabeth, where her body was cremated.
Oscar is awaiting trial on a premeditated murder charge. The Olympic winner says that he thought Reeva was an intruder and accidentally shot and killed her on Feb. 14.
Reeva Steenkamp’s Mourning Parents Speak Out On Daughter’s Death
Barry and June Steenkamp recently appeared on the African TV show, Carte Blanche, where they opened up about the tragic night on which their daughter was murdered.
Barry begged that Oscar “come out with the honest truth” and added, “It’s only Oscar and Reeva that know the true story.”
