While Kristen flew solo at the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Feb. 24, Rob was still down under, posing for pics with fans on the very same day as the Oscars! Should he have flown into LA to walk the carpet with Kristen instead?

Robert Pattinson‘s never been one to shy away from posing for a photo with a fan, and this latest one gives us a little insight into why he was noticeably absent from Kristen Stewart‘s arm as she attended the 85th Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Feb. 24! The hunky actor was still in Australia, where he’s been filming his upcoming movie, The Rover. But he clearly still had Kristen on his mind — he was wearing a T-shirt that she’s been seen wearing in the past!

The picture of Rob, 26, was shared on Instagram by a fan named Louise Lynch, with the accompanying message: ” Just a casual Monday sesh. #robertpattinson #lovedmyhair #mademeblush #tookhisorder #gavehimgarlicbread #wetight #bff #XXXX #luckygirl #luckyguy #sadhisgone #hadconnection #mustbelove #hastag #somuchtosay #robo #pattsy #therover.”

The lucky waitress shared the photo on Feb. 25, at her workplace the Leigh Creek Tavern, which is the region of South Australia that Rob’s been filming in for the past month. In the photo, Rob is wearing a white Joy Division T-shirt — the same Joy Division shirt that Kristen wore in black back in 2009!

While the heartthrob was busy making a fan’s dreams come true, Kristen, 23, was strutting her stuff at the Oscars. The actress, there to present the award for Best Production Design with Rob’s old Harry Potter co-star, Daniel Radcliffe, looked stunning in her Reem Acra dress in spite of her foot injury.

The starlet also rocked a diamond ring from Fred Leighton at the event, one that looked very reminiscent of Bella’s engagement ring from the Twilight saga. It was a Fred Leighton rose gold and old mine diamond navette shaped ring, circa 1900. Could she have been hoping to send Rob a message with her rather inspired piece of jewelry?

As we’ve told you, she and Rob have been on a trial separation ever since he left the States to film in Australia. Should he have made a trip up to support Kristen at the Oscars, though? And does Rob’s choice of shirt indicate that he’s thinking about Kristen? What do you think, HollywoodLifers?

There’s no reason for him to be there. She was just presenting an award and besides they are not together (we hope). He’s working thousands of miles away, leave he alone. Have fun Rob.

hmm.. I thought the article meant they are wearing the same exact shirt, but they are obviously not wearing the same shirt in the two picture comparison. Not that it means they are not together! i just find it funny that the article compared two pictures, saying they are wearing the same shirt when they clearly are not. They are wearing the same type of shirt. It is a silly way for the media to try and establish a connection between them when anyone could buy that shirt. Maybe it was a way to signify she is on his mind, but they both could really just like their similar shirts. They probably are still together, which is completely their business, but I just really found that amusing and had to point it out, haha.

They area on a trial separation, people! That means SEPARATED. You can date, you are free – you are not together. SEPARATED=NOT TOGETHER. She needst oput on her big girl panties and move the f on. The guy is working and will be home in a couple more weeks to lavish her with gifts and attention until they have to separate for work again. There is no need for him to baby her, she is a big girl now that she has survived a scandal.Someone has to take care of bear and Bernie. Rob didn’t have to support Kristen and vice versa when presenting any award. If the oscars wanted Rob there too; they would have requested him. I think the only thing Kristen should have done was wear her hair up with dramatic lips. That would have made a big difference with the dress she was wearing. I still love them both, as well as, there work. Hollywood life, I know you have to make money, but anticipating a couple break up is TOO WRONG. Would you want someone to do that to you or your family member? Find something else to write about and let Rob/Kris work on whatever they have going. You’re not making it any better by being negative about their relationship and constantly nit picking everything they do. They’re private about their life as with any celebrity.

Rob in Australia, Kristen in L.A., you call that trial separation. Is that the new lingo now, because one has to work on the other side of the globe. Why should Rob fly in just because it is Oscar, and hold everyone on the set of Rover. None of them are nominated, it will be different if Kristen were nominated, and expect Rob to be there to support her.
