A few leading ladies started a trend at the Oscars on Feb. 24. Actresses like J-Law and Nicole Kidman pinned up their hair in a callback to the 19th century! Do you like their vintage looks?
And we mean that in the best way possible!
Jennifer Lawrence, Naomi Watts & More: Pinned-Back Elegance
J-Law and company made the Bronte sisters-inspired do look sexy and fresh, and what made the style so amazing was how perfectly it fit all of the actresses who donned it!
All of the actresses working the vintage do — Jennifer, Naomi, Amanda, Nicole Kidman — all have gorgeous tight faces. The pinned-back look worked in tandem to highlight their stunning beauty.
What’s more, the actresses didn’t overdo their pull-backs. By keeping things somewhat loose, the leading ladies pulled off an elegant but relaxed feel.
Jennifer Lawrence — How She Pulled It Off
Dove celebrity stylist Mark Townsend, who styled Jennifer’s hair, gave HollywoodLife.com the lowdown on how he achieved the amazing style.
First, Mark combed her wet hair and added Dove Nourishing Oil Care Anti-Frizz Serum. But here’s the most important part — after blow-drying and raking through her hair, Mark randomly took pieces from each side of J-Law’s hair, twisted them, and then tied them together at the back of her head using bobby pins.
With the remaining hair, he threw together a playful bun.
Vintage Hair At The Oscars — A Perfect Balance
Playful — that’s the operative word with this hairstyle. It’s taking something old-fashioned-looking and making it modern and hip.
These four ladies struck a perfect balance between refinement and whimsy.
We obviously love this trend — what do you think, HollywoodLifers? Let us know!
