Two wins for the Affleck family! Just hours before Ben accepted the an Oscar for Best Picture, he celebrated with his daughter Violet, 7, who won a local spelling bee! Congrats to the Affleck family!
Ben Affleck, 40, may have won big at the 85th Academy Awards on Feb. 24 — he took home the biggest honor of the night, Best Picture for Argo — but he wasn’t the only Affleck family member to take home a trophy! That same day, his daughter Violet Affleck, 7, won a Los Angeles spelling bee!
Hours before walking the Oscars red carpet on Feb. 24, Ben was with his oldest daughter, proudly watching as she took home the winning trophy for a local spelling bee! The two were spotted walking back from the competition, hand-in-hand like an adorable father-daughter duo, with Violet’s smile a mile wide. She even had one her competition number still on the front of her shirt — too cute!
“I was more nervous at the spelling bee than I am now,” Ben joked to Ryan Seacrest on the Oscars red carpet later that day. “I don’t know what that says.”
Jennifer Garner Reveals: Life Doesn’t Stop For The Oscars
Ben has three kids with wife Jennifer Garner — Violet, Seraphina, 4, and baby Samuel, who turns one on Feb. 27. Jennifer revealed on the red carpet that her kids’ busy schedules didn’t slow down just because they had the Academy Awards!
“Our daughter was in a spelling bee at the local rec center,” Jennifer told E! on the red carpet. “I was in hair and make-up so I couldn’t take her, so Ben took her in the middle of everything. She won!”
“Our family has already had a great day, so congratulations to our sweetie,” she added. “And then she had a basketball game. Life goes on. No one really cares!”

Ben gave an adorable shout-out to his kids during his speech after his Best Picture win. “Violet, Sam and Sera, this is for you,” he said through tears.
