The gloves are off and the claws are out! Host Seth dissed a lot of people when opening the 85th Academy Awards on Feb. 24, including Chris and Rihanna, when he took a dig at their relationship.
Forget Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes, Seth MacFarlane was way more offensive at the 85th Annual Academy Awards, when he totally dissed Rihanna and Chris Brown! Seth, 39, was speaking about the film Django Unchained, when he referenced Chris and Rihanna’s complicated relationship and the night when Chris assaulted her in 2009. Read on for all the details.
Seth MacFarlene Disses Chris Brown & Rihanna At The Academy Awards
Seth was opening the show at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, when he let rip with a series of diss jokes, but none were as bad as the joke he made about Rihanna, 25, and Chris, 23. Seth was speaking about Django Unchained, and how the film is “unspeakably violent.” He then quipped that it is like “date night for Rihanna and Chris Brown.”
Seth was referring to the night in Feb. 2009 when Chris assaulted Rihanna prior to the Grammy Awards. While Seth was trying to rouse the crowd, joking about domestic violence is totally uncalled for. And Chris did not appreciate the joke!
Twitter user Wesley Lowery tweeted “Was in the room with Chris Brown when that joke about him and Rihanna was dropped. It was awkward. #oscars”
I would imagine it was!
While the majority of the audience groaned at Seth’s awkward joke, Robert Downey Jr was seen clapping, while Nicole Kidman laughed. At least some people enjoyed it! Meanwhile, Keith Urban and Halle Berry were stone faced.
What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Was Seth’s diss totally uncool?
