Mindy McCready‘s tragic death on Feb. 17 shocked the nation, and the country singers fans want to know why the 37-year-old mother of two would want to kill herself. HollywoodLife.com previously reported that Mindy’s number one priority was her two sons, Zander, 6, and Zayne, 9 months, and we can exclusively reveal that Mindy’s fear of losing custody of her kids played a huge role in why she died.
Mindy McCready Killed Herself — Why’d She Do It?
A source close to Mindy was asked if her fear of losing her kids had anything to do with her suicide, and they said that it was a major contributing factor.
“That was one of many reasons, and she also was deeply depressed with her boyfriend killing himself,” the source reveals to HollywoodLife.com. “She was still on drugs and drinking and in a real bad place with her career, and she was having money issues. It all came together in a perfect storm. Unfortunately this was really something that we were afraid of actually happening.”
Mindy died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and she died in her home in Arkansas. This is the same place the body of her boyfriend David Wilson was found dead last month after he committed suicide. Mindy had good reason to be afraid of losing her children.
Why Mindy Feared Losing Custody
On Feb. 6, Mindy’s two sons were taken into foster care after she entered a treatment facility for a mental health and alcohol abuse evaluation, but she ended up only staying there for two days. Furthermore, a new report in PEOPLE says that days before Mindy died, she had received court papers suggesting that her sons go live with her mother, and she was devastated.
“The most important thing are my babies must come home,” Mindy had written to close friend Danno Hanks.

Well she really lost them now didnt she? I dont think thats the reason, I believe it was the state of her mind, the drugs, alchohol etc.
