
The brave Robin Roberts made a tearful return to ‘Good Morning America’ on Feb. 20, and received a warm welcome from celebrities, co-workers, fans — and even President Obama! Her return came 174 days after undergoing a major bone marrow transplant.
Robin Roberts is back where she belongs: on the set of Good Morning America, with her co-hosts, George Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer, Josh Elliott, and Sam Champion. When Robin returned to the GMA set on Feb. 20, she gave a gracious and tear-filled thanks to everyone who has supported her throughout her journey.
“Faith, family and friends have brought me to this moment,” she said from the anchor desk. “I am so full of gratitude. So many people I want to thank throughout the morning: doctors, nurses, family, colleages, people who have sat in this chair. Those who have blazed a trail before me.”
“I share this morning, this day of celebration with everyone,” she added in her emotional speech.
Robin even got a warm welcome from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama!
“Good morning Ameirca, and welcome back Robin!” President Obama said in a video that aired at the top of the 7:00 hour. “The whole Obama family, we have been thinking about you and praying for you,” the first lady added.
“You are an inspiration to all of us!” the president said.
Oprah Wishes Robin Roberts A Happy Return:
“Hey Robin! I always knew this day was coming,” Oprah said in a taped message. “It came a little sooner then I thought and you know why — because you have an angel, [Robin's late mother] Lucy Marion. She was working it!”
Robin Roberts Tweets About Her GMA Return
On Feb.19, the day before her return, Robin tweeted, “Last morn to watch @GMA between froggy slippers. MANY thanks to @arobach & @EVargasABC…you will always be a part of GMA family. Blessings.”
In a recent conversation with her co-hosts, Robin revealed that she visualized herself being back at work.
“I know when I sit back down…and I look over and I see you and I see you and I see you and I see you, it’s going to be, all is right in the world. And it’s going to seem like no time has passed at all,” Robin said.
Robin Roberts’ GMA Return
On Jan. 14, the news anchor spoke to GMA from her New York City home, where she promised she would return to work.
“I’m so happy to be sharing this news with everybody — I met with my doctors last week. My blood count continues to improve,” Robin said. “My beloved sister, Sally-Ann, my donor. Her cells continue to make themselves at home in my body. The big news is that my last bone marrow aspiration — by the way, ouch, I’ve lost count how many I’ve had — but the last bone marrow test showed no abnormalities! What all of this means is my doctors were waiting for this information to tell me I can being the process of returning to the anchor chair. I’m coming home.”

This woman is TOTALLY SELFISH. She is depressing and should NOT be on the television. I have family who have cancer and deserve my energy and my devotion so when I watch TV I want to be entertained and not to be brought down.
