When the ‘Teen Mom 2′ star’s estranged husband never showed up for his court date on Feb. 18 for the assault charges Jenelle filed, she worried he was fleeing from the law. But her lawyer reveals to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY why Courtland never showed!
Shortly after their explosive argument, Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans, 21, filed assault charges against her husband, Courtland Rogers, 27, on Jan. 23 — and Courtland was supposed to be in court on Feb. 18 to face the music. But he never showed, and now Jenelle’s lawyer Dustin R. T. Sullivan is revealing to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY why he was absent.
Dustin says that Courtland didn’t show because he technically didn’t know he was supposed to.
“At this point in time, technically at this point [Courtland] doesn’t know about the charges officially,” Dustin reveals. “Until he’s properly served, he doesn’t know about the court date.”
He adds that Jenelle was there because she had a subpoena to be in court, but she had no way of knowing if Courtland would be there or if he had been served the charges.
“Jenelle had showed up for court, but the court can’t do anything. The only way that he is going to be served is if he shows up for court, or if the sheriff’s office finds him,” Dustin says, adding that even if he’s pulled over for a minor traffic violation, that information is in the police system and he could be served.
Jenelle Evans: Furious Courtland Rogers Didn’t Show Up For Court
On Feb. 18, Jenelle took to her Twitter to vent her frustation about her estranged husband. “Just got a call.. the law is looking for Courtland Keith Rogers. Charged with 4 Counts of Assault on a Female and Battery of an Unborn Child,” she tweeted.
“If you know any where-abouts of Courtland Keith Rogers is please call Brunswick County Sheriffs Department. I’m sick of him harassing me!” she added.
She also posted a pic of herself and wrote that she was bored at the courthouse — apparently waiting for Courtland! The tweet has since been deleted. But Jenelle is not pleased with how her soon-to-be-ex is handling the situation.
“Jenelle wants him to man up and show up in court! She thinks he’s on the run, and that he’s never going to face the charges,” a close to the reality star tells RadarOnline.com. “She is so mad at him right now.”
Courtland Tweets To Jenelle About Charges
“@PBandJenelley_1 are u fu****** kidding me? you took fake charges out on me and now u are the queen? u destroyed my life n u laugh about it?” the wanted man tweeted to his ex Feb. 19.
“I am done with twitter yalll believe that stupid girl that is bi-polar as fu** and lies more than anyone i know? smh @PBandJenelley_1,” Courtland added.
But Courtland didn’t hold up that promise — he returned to tweeting later that day.
Courtland’s Other Legal Trouble
Courtland’s baby mama, Taylor Lewis, is also planning to take him back to court for child support.
“Courtland has had a year to pay the child support for his daughter, JaJa, but he doesn’t have a job. His dad has been paying it, but he is going to stop now and Taylor is going to have to go to court to get him to pay up!” another source told RadarOnline.com.
