The apparent suicide of troubled country star Mindy McCready shook the music world on Feb. 17. So many musicians grew up listening to and learning from Mindy’s immense talent and charisma, and many expressed their sadness and grief over the horrible news of her death.
The Music World Reacts To Mindy McCready’s Tragic Death
Carrie Underwood tweeted, “I grew up listening to Mindy McCready…so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them…”
Fellow country singer, Wynona Judd was obviously heartbroken, shooting off 21 consecutive tweets in reaction to Mindy’s death. “Oh my! Mindy. Dear sweet girl. This is so sad. It just breaks my heart what addiction continues to take from this life,” Wynona started, adding, “Addiction is a dis EASE & not a character flaw. When the pain becomes too much, it causes people to want that pain to stop. This is just so unbelievable & so sad. God be with the family & those babies. Surround them with your grace & mercy.” Wynona continued on mourning her friend’s passing, finally ending, “I thank ALL my family, friends & fans, for continuing to affirm me & support me in this life. It is precious, & becoming more so each & every day we have here in Earth. Tell someone you love them. Goodnight.”
Actress Melissa Gilbert tweeted, “… Heartbreakingly sad.” and Richard Marx commented, “Such a drag to hear about Mindy McCready. Her poor children.”
LeAnn Rimes also sent prayers for Mindy’s children, tweeting, “My heart goes out to Mindy McCready’s family. I knew her well. It’s a horribly tragedy. May peace be with her sons.”
And Clay Aiken tweeted, “I listened admiringly to Mindy McCready growing up. May she finally be at peace and lend her beautiful voice to heaven’s #tenthousandangels”
Country singer Jason Aldean sent out, “Just heard about Mindy McCready. My thoughts and prayers are with her 2 boys and her family.”
Chely Wright also tweeted, saying, “Really really sad to learn the news about Mindy McCready. I will pray for her children and I hope that people are gentle with her memory.”
