Tom Cruise filed a shocking $50 million lawsuit in October against Bauer Media Group, which publishes ‘Life & Style,’ over an article he found libelous — but now the company is demanding to know Suri’s ‘mental and emotional’ state for their case. Read on for more details.

It’s not often a celebrity takes on a tabloid article in a defamation lawsuit, but when Tom Cruise filed a $50 million lawsuit against Bauer Media Group for a story their magazine Life & Style published about him allegedly abandoning his daughter, he was prepared for a serious legal battle. For their litigation, Bauer Media Group is demanding personal info for not only Tom, but also his daughter Suri Cruise, 6.

Tom filed the lawsuit in October after the magazine ran a story stating he had “abandoned” his daughter after his divorce from Katie Holmes. As both sides gear up for legal battle, they are demanding information from the opposing party to help prove their case.

Bauer Media Group Requests Info On Suri’s Mental Health

For Bauer Media Group, they hope to prove their story is true by demanding “Suri’s mental and emotional state following the separation and divorce, the extent to which Tom was in contact with Suri following his separation and divorce from Katie Holmes, and the expectations for Cruise’s contact and visitation schedule with Suri and the terms of the divorce agreement, among others,” according to legal papers obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

Tom Cruise’s Lawyer: He’s Not One To Sue

Tom’s lawyer Bert Fields said at the time of filing the papers that it’s not common for the actor to pursue legal action in a libel case.

“Tom doesn’t go around suing people,” he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s not a litigious guy. But when these sleaze peddlers try to make money with disgusting lies about his relationship with his child, you bet he’s going to sue.”

On the other hand, Tom’s demands for the publishing company include, “the identity of the magazine’s sources and communications with those sources,” and “Bauer’s practice of publishing stories about Cruise,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sounds like an intense legal battle is about to ensue! What do YOU think of Bauer-Griffin demanding Suri’s mental health HollyMoms? Do you think that’s fair?

The FACT that the magazine is seeking “evidence” AFTER they wrote their article is unconscionable and laughable at the same time

As a Mom, an ex-wife AND a married woman now,I think that this magazine needing info on a very private little girl is a gross invasion of privacy.
That lil girl is going thru hell and a very private one at that. Her private battle with her missing her Daddy, needs to remain just that: private.
What goes on with Tom and Suri is no one’s business. It is between Katie,Suri AND Tom.
No one else.
The public does not need to know what the mental state of Suri is, no more than Tom needs to know what underwear they are wearing.
I feel so sorry for the kids of celebs: no privacy, and no discretion to live the way they want to.
The public and the media, with their bloodlust for info on the celeb lifestyle has created an epidemic of disgusting proportion.
The blaring light that the media sheds upon the private lives of the celebs, sickens me.
Shedding light on a very private matter, and of a little girl, too !!!
I am glad I am not famous: The papz would get to know my middle finger REAL well and quickly, too.

No wonder Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewert are so private.
Who can blame them !?!?
