Katy, 28, and John, 35, were seen having a dinner date with Katy’s parents on Feb. 10, where John was acting chummy with Katy’s dad Keith Hudson — did he ask for her hand in marriage then? Katy Perry & John Mayer: Engaged?
Katy and John were seen leaving Vincenti in Brentwood after a romantic Valentine’s dinner date, and they were both grinning from ear to ear! Did John propose to the pop princess?
Well, judging by the ENORMOUS ring on her finger, we are betting yes! Katy was smiling like a girl madly in love while walking towards their car, and she was wearing a red ruby ring with a gold band on her left hand.
The Ruby Ring: How Much Is It Worth?
It looks like this ring cost a pretty penny! HollywoodLife.com exclusively spoke to three top jewelers who valued what Katy’s ring cost.
Marina Diamons Corporation believes the ring is 14 carats, and worth about $1200 if there are green tourmaline stones on the side. New Generation Jewelers believe the side stones are green emeralds and the ring is 18 carats, so therefore the ring is possibly worth between $1500 and $5,000. Katz Jewelry Company says the ring is ,maybe 14 carats, and worth possibly $1,000.
Proof That Katy Is Engaged To John
Katy and John’s romance has accelerated rapidly since they started dating in 2012. Katy, who was married to Russell Brand, seems besotted with the former bad boy. They even spent Christmas together, and HollywoodLife.com previously reported that John was going to propose to Katy in 2013.
“It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he proposed to her. Not immediately but eventually,” said a friend of John’s in Dec. 2012. “They both really do bring out the best in each other.”
“John is completely cuckoo for Katy. They are, like, the perfect match for each other. They can talk about music, writing, traveling. John really likes the fact that Katy is so independent and not needy and clingy like other girls he has dated. This is the first time John has felt so strongly about a girlfriend,” added the friend.
So sweet! On Feb. 10 when they musicians ate dinner with Katy’s parents, they seemed more in love than ever.

An eyewitness at Mr. Chows in Beverly Hills tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, “Katy couldn’t have looked happier. She was just beaming with a huge smile on her face. Katy, John, and her parents seemed to be celebrating the night. They were laughing a lot and looked really at ease and comfortable with each other.”
“They all looked relaxed, especially Katy and John,” says the source. “They were holding hands and when they weren’t, John had his arm around Katy. Before they left, John leaned into Katy and gave her a kiss on the forehead — it was cute. And they make a gorgeous looking couple. They really compliment each other.”
