Liam Payne, 19, is enjoying the view from the top as a part of the hugely famous boy band One Direction — but he’s also getting nervous, telling reporters that he fears the end is near!
Liam might be just measuring his expectations, but he’s DEFINITELY skeptical of One Direction’s future.
“I don’t want us to lose the fun we have on stage,” the 19-year-old singer told We Love Pop magazine, adding, “I don’t want us to fall out or have a situation where the band doesn’t want to be together anymore.”
1D has released two platinum albums and has a big 3D movie premiering this summer, but is Liam sensing that the he and his bandmates are already drifting apart?
Liam’s comments come about a week after reports that One Direction band member Zayn Malik was having thoughts about leaving.
“There is growing concern among the bosses that Zayn is on the brink at the moment,” a source close to the band told Celebuzz.
Zayn is struggling with the harsh light of fame ever since his cheating scandal with waitress Courtney Webb.
“Naturally he likes the adoration and his day job, but he is battling to cope with the pressure that comes with it,” the source also said.
Maybe Zayn’s struggle is rubbing off on the rest of the 1D boys?
Historically, boy bands have always gone through tough times once they reach superstardom. There are individual egos to handle, and insane amounts of public attention to adapt to — remember when AJ McLean of The Backstreet Boys had to go to rehab? — so it’s only natural that One Direction is starting to feel the heat.
Here’s to hoping that Zayn and Liam’s worries are just part of a phase, and that they can get back to making hit albums and having loads of fun.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers — can 1D make it through these tough times? Let us know!
