Emmy spoke EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com about how her hot new paranormal love film ‘Beautiful Creatures’ is different from ‘Twilight,’ and how it empowers women. So cool!

Emmy Rossum, 26, is probably most recognizable for playing Fiona Gallagher in the gritty Showtime drama Shameless, but on Feb. 14, Emmy will be stunning audiences in her role as Ridley Duchannes in the new film Beautiful Creatures. This film draws many comparisons to Twilight, as both involve a love story between two teenagers from different worlds, and one has immense power. Sound familiar? However, at the NYC premiere hosted by The Cinema Society & Dior Beauty on Feb. 11, Emmy EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife.com all about how Beautiful Creatures is “very different” to Twilight.

Emmy Rossum Talks ‘Beautiful Creatures’ & ‘Twilight’

HollywoodLife.com previously reported that Alice Englert, who plays Lena Duchannes in the film, has spoken out about how the two supernatural franchises are different, and Emmy explains why.

“It’s very different and it’s empowering for women,” says Emily. “A lot of the female characters were able to decide for themselves who they are going to be and what they are going to do with their lives.”

While Emmy points out the differences, there is one notable similarity to Twilight — there will be a sequel!

“Yeah Ridley is in the other films, and I love her journey so I’d love to [do a sequel],” says Emily. “Ridley’s a dark caster who is claimed for the dark on her 16th birthday, so Emma Thompson and I are the villains in the film, and I am coming back to make sure my younger cousin comes to the dark side as well.”

And, also like Twilight, Beautiful Creatures is based on a book, which Emmy loved.

“I read the script before my audition, and then I read the first book. When I got the part, I read all the books in one week and I just loved them!”

It sounds like an awesome movie!

Beautiful Creatures is a amazing novel. I love love it. I bet the movie is going to be amazing too. If you haven’t read the book, you are missing out. Read it before you watch the movie. Yeah!

For one I doubt it’s as cheesy and purely written as Twilight.
