‘The Originals’ Scoop: Leah Pipes Joins ‘Vampire Diaries’ Spin-Off

Leah will play Camille, an intelligent human with no knowledge of vampires — yet.

The Originals is getting its first taste of human blood! Leah Pipes has been cast in the back-door pilot of The Vampire Diaries‘ spin-off as Camille, described by The Hollywood Reporter as “a college psychology student fascinated by the study of human behavior unaware of the supernatural universe that exists around her.”

Of course, if she’s anything like Elena (Nina Dobrev), it won’t take long for her to figure out her supernatural surroundings!

Though there’s already a ton of hype surrounding The Originals, it hasn’t officially been picked up for The CW’s 2013-2014 season. It will air as a back-door pilot April 25, when fans will get their first bite — so to speak — of what’s to come.

Joseph Morgan will star in the potential spin-off as the original Original Klaus, who returns to New Orleans to raise a little hell. (Well, a little more hell.) It was recently announced that The Game actor Charles Michael Davis will play Marcel, Klaus’ former protegé, who is described as “wicked, wild and charismatic.”

Daniel Gillies will also be reprising his Vampire Diaries character Elijah, and will be forced to align himself with Marcel’s enemies in order to help Klaus “find redemption.” (Sounds like Elijah will be playing the Stefan to Klaus’ Damon this time around, no?)

Also on board The Originals is Phoebe Tonkin, who will continue to play Hayley; and Daniella Pineda and Danielle Campbell, who will originate the bewitching roles of Sophie and Davina.

It sounds like this pilot, which will be written by The Vampire Diaries‘ executive producer Julie Plec, is really starting to take shape! Keep your fingers crossed that The Originals will be joining its parent show in the fall, as it was already picked up for a fifth season.

Are you more excited for The Originals than ever? Drop me a comment with your reaction to this new casting!

i think people should quit being so obsessive with their klaus and caroline shipping.it’s never going to happen. i liked them at first but i realized she will never love or change him. The only way he will change his opinion of humans will be if he falls in love with one.Camille would be perfect for this and i can’t wait to see her interact with klaus. We all know how he treats humans like garbage and him falling in love with one will be quite ironic. i mean caroline and klaus relationship was far fetched from the beginning, it was not believable that he would fall in love with her so quickly. I think he will change if he will love a human like he did at first with Tatia. I am so excited for this spinoff, can’t wait to see more of klaus and the originals!!!

I can’t wait to see this spinoff!!!! i am so excited to see camille with klaus.i really like leah pipes and i think she will do a great job with her character. i hope people will stop criticizing her character because of their obsessive shipping of caroline and klaus. i mean come on they will never be together and it’s getting kind of old him being rejected by caroline all the time. i don’t like seeing him like that. he needs someone who appreciates and understands him. i think the only way he will change his opinion of humans will be if he falls in love with one. I want to see the day he will treat humans with compassion ,omg that would be sooooo awesome. anyway can’t wait to see more of klaus and the originals!!!!

I was very excited about this show until I saw this news! Joseph Morgan definitely deserves his own show. He’s an amazing actor. The emotion he put into the “Into the Wild” episode was heartwrenching. I’m also looking forward to Elijah coming back.
Unfortunately, rumors are flying about another love triangle on this show and this Camille obviously resembles Caroline. Klaus has purposely not allowed himself to fall in love for 1,000 years. He finally meets the one girl, Caroline, who has stolen his heart. Even if she tells him to get lost, I could never believe that he would just go and have a rebound romance with someone who happens to resemble Caroline, let alone a human. I’m really hoping these rumors are not true and if there is a love triangle, that it does not involve Klaus. Klaus needs to bide a little time and wait for Caroline to come around. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Klaroline forever!

Nah. Klaus isn’t the type to wait for any woman.
He’s lived a thousand years. He got over Tatia, he’ll get over her too.
and hopefully find someone who wants him on THe ORIGINALS show.

Agree with you. It is just stupid to show the Original Vampire to be inlove with Caroline, then to just let the same original vampire to fall for another girl. It is just brainless to show that he has fallen for just one girl in 1000 years, but in 1 or 2 years he falls for 2 allready…

I am very interested to meet Camille, and I really hope that they make her as different from Elena as possible. It will be interesting to see how she comes to meet Klaus and get involved with the world of vampires. Now that the cast is coming together, I am even more excited to see this spin off with my DISH Hopper. Working late at DISH I miss out on watching my favorite shows when they first air. So I always make sure to program my DVR to automatically record the seasons of every show I watch, to not fall behind. It helps that I have 2,000 hours of storage space available, it’s great being able to not worry about missing episodes. This spin off really seems like it could be a unique story, so I have faith that they won’t go down the same route Elena did in TVD.
