Ashley Riggitano’s Boyfriend Speaks After Suicide: ‘She Loved Me’

Ashley Riggitano Dating

Following Ashley’s tragic suicide on Feb. 6, the identity of her alleged boyfriend, Drew Heissenbuttel, was revealed. Even though a source close to the family tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Ashley was single at the time of her death, Drew is choosing to speak out.

Ashley Riggitano, 22, died when she jumped off the George Washington Bridge on Feb. 6, as she could no longer handle being tormented by bullies. Ashley, who suffered from depression, was allegedly dating Drew Heissenbuttel. It was reportedly Drew’s close friendship with Ashley’s frenemie Alison Tinari that was an issue for her. Drew claims he is “devastated,” following Ashley’s death.

Drew Heissenbuttel Shares His Sorrow

“Ashley was a gorgeous girl and we had a great relationship,” Drew told Radar Online. “We were on and off for some time but were together again at the time she passed away. She loved me and I loved her back.”

“I knew something was going on with the Facebook feud but I can’t comment on that,” says Drew, from his home in Mooresville, North Carolina. “I need to respect Ashley’s family right now.”

Ashley was reportedly involved in a nasty online battle since January 8 with Alison over her friendship with Drew.

“I’m still trying to figure out why this happened and to piece it all together. I am very upset, I’m absolutely devastated. I just don’t know why she did it,” Drew said.

“On the day of her death, the last thing she said to me was that she loved me. I knew something was wrong though, but I didn’t know what,” confesses Drew.

Drew plans on driving to New Jersey to attend Ashley’s funeral.

Ashley & Drew’s Relationship Was Not ‘On Again’

Despite Drew’s confessions, a source close to the family tells us that Ashley and Drew were no longer seeing each other at the time of her death. (Perhaps they kept their rekindled love a secret.)

“Ashley was not dating anyone; she was single,” a source close to the family exclusively tells HollywoodLife.com.

HollywoodLife.com also spoke to source close to Drew, who told us exclusively that “Drew went to work today, but he had to leave early.”

Even though Ashley is confirmed to have been single at the time of her death, it appears as though Drew was affected by her tragic suicide, as he stated to Radar Online.

Our thoughts are with the Riggitano family at this difficult time. How do YOU feel, HollywoodLifers?

I don’t feel sorry for her at all. She was probably shallow and would only date pretty guys. I’, glad she is gone. She is a coward.

She is so sweet. I met her once or twice. She is my teacher’s daughter. My teacher always talked about how beautiful her daughter was and how smart she was. She is devastated. Ashley is so beautiful. This is devastating to everyone that knows her. Everyone is sad about this. Or they are saying ” Oh God, Another suicide. It doesn’t involve me, so i don’t care.” What if you knew that person? What if that were your 22-year-old daughter? Mind your business. She obviously did this because she was hurting inside and no-one will ever understand what she was going through. Have some respect for her and her family. Please.

I knew ashley and this was not the first time she was bullied. It happened when she was young too. People need to start learning to stop putting in their opinions about her committing suicide. Depression is extremely hard and she clearly had a lot going on in her life. Mind your business because she obviously did this because of her own issues in her life that no one will ever understand. Have some respect for her and her family.

It sounds as if Drew was playing both ends from the middle and was having relationships with both of these girls. How would Alison Tinari, the girl that Ashley accused of being with Drew, know that Ashley had tried to kill herself once before with Xanax ? Drew must have told her that. So Drew is not so innocent in all of this. He was probably fueling the fire from both ends so that he could have both of them. The sad part is that he was playing with someone who was depressed and he might have thought it was fun and games to have 2 women fighting over him and was loving every minute of it, but Asley couldn’t take it. If I was her family, I would tell him that he was also not welcomed at the funeral. He is obviously using this opportunity to get his 15 minutes if fame.

Sounds exactly how I percieved it. I mean for Alison to claim she never met the girl she sure knew alot about her.. oddly enough, and honestly a friendship with this dude is one thing, but have some respect her “guy” friend is in a relationship with another woman.. she needed to mind her buisness, and not post such lovey dovey photos of her, and another woman’s bf all over her FB… i mean c’mon. And to straight up mess with someone so delicate even if they instigated the arguement over a subject that she obviously felt really bothered by.. obviously i would too if it was my bf.. i mean these people are hardless… its not fair that people get so low they rise above it… i wish bullies, and so much decievingness didnt exist

why is this news? a disturbed girl killed herself. people were mean, and may have contributed to her angst- but it appears this wasn’t the first time she tried to kill herself, just the first time she was successful. it’s sad, and people should be nicer to one another, and realize how devastating sharp words can be… but, i don’t understand why this is news. the see you next tuesday that told her to go try and kill herself again will live with this for the rest of her life. drew will live with his part (we all know he’s not innocent) the rest of his life. but, at the end of the day, this is simply the story of a disturbed girl who didn’t know how to appreciate the precious gift of life she was given. very sorry for her family…

Why is this news, gbtw? Well for starters, a beautiful, talented woman leaped to her death this week…does that merit any mention in the media? Maybe a footnote on the 5th page of the newspaper? No? Well, in that case maybe the problem lies within your stone cold heart. Exactly what DOES constitute news for you?

Another reason not to go on facebook. Seems this Drew was probably colluding with her frenemie. Seems like he is a loser to me, trying to make a cheap buck out of the death. Maybe Drew had a relationship with her frenemie Alison. Why are grown adults still using this childish website?

I am an older adult who is on facebook with my friends every day. I just don’t participate in childish behavoir of he said, she said. Facebook is a fun place to keep up with my friends and their children. Obviously, this girl had more problems in her life besides fighting with a girl over a guy. So sad she did not seek the help she needed to stay alive.

Never judge a book by it’s cover. Some of the most beautiful people in the world have been through some of the hardest struggles in life. We all have an equal amount of problems. Just because someone is perfect on the outside doesn’t mean they’ve never been raped, bullied or tortured in their lifetime. We all have this misconception that bullies are attractive and the bullied kids are these icky weirdos. But that’s not always the case. Some people are bullied because they’re considered to be too attractive.

Beautiful, doesn’t mean you cant get bullied. Everyone, and anyone can become a victim for many different reasons. Its hard to rise above it especially in really low periods of your life… it only takes one moment in your life to feel so hopeless and alone.. that you’d rather let go, and not move forward in life… its so sad, and tragic. It’s heartbreaking.
