Mindy McCready, 37, admitted she had been on a downward spiral since her live-in boyfriend David Wilson was tragically found dead on Jan. 13 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. During an emergency hearing on Feb. 6, a judge ordered the country star to rehab to deal with her issues — and forced her two sons into foster care.
Mindy revealed that she had been drinking too much alcohol to cope with the devastating death of her boyfriend, People is reporting. The “Guys Do It All the Time” singer has a history of drug abuse, arrests, rehab and suicide attempts.
A judge ordered Mindy to rehab to deal with not only her alcohol use, but also her mental health issues. While she’s seeking treatment, her two boys Zander, 6, and Zayne, 9 months, were removed from her home and placed in foster care. Zander’s father is singer Billy McKnight, while Zayne’s dad is the late David Wilson.
Mindy McCready’s Rep Speaks Out About Court-Ordered Rehab
“As you can imagine, the tragedy of David Wilson’s death has been devastating and crippling to Mindy and her entire family. We can confirm Mindy was admitted to an in-patient facility yesterday,” her rep tells PEOPLE. “While taking appropriate and much needed time to grieve, her sons have been placed in foster homes where they are comfortable and cared for. We have no further statement at this time. Thank you for your patience, understanding and sensitivity.”
