The ‘Once Upon A Time’ star became the face — and smile — of the company’s latest endeavor to improve Americans’ oral health.
Tired of simply breaking curses on TV, Ginnifer Goodwin is now breaking real-life curses on your mouth. Confused? Allow me to explain: The star of ABC’s Once Upon A Time has teamed up with Listerine to help kick off the company’s 21 Day Challenge, which will raise money for Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America program. The ultimate goal is to help 210,000 at-risk children in need of oral health services, so there’s lots of work to be done!
Basically, for every person who signs up for the 21 Day Challenge, Listerine will donate to the Smiles Across America program. For more info on the challenge, click over to Listerine’s official Facebook page.
So what got Ginnifer, 34, interested in teaming up with Listerine?
“I was unaware that half of all adults have oral disease, and we don’t know it, which terrifies me,” she told HollywoodLife.com on Feb. 5 at The Gabarron Foundation Carriage House Center for the Arts. “I also did not know the number-one chronic illness among children is oral disease, or that all of the brushing and flossing I do multiple times a day is only killing 25 percent of the germs in my mouth.”
(For the record, I didn’t know that either, and now I’m a little terrified.)
“So, first I got the heebie-jeebies, and then I was blown away by the generosity of the Listerine company in donating $21,000 to Oral Health America with my kicking off the Listerine 21-Day Challenge,” Ginnifer explained.
I chatted with Ginnifer shortly before she moved downstairs to make the first official swish, kicking off the program, and paving the way for a brighter, healthier America.
