Justin Timberlake is officially back! He took the stage for the first time in five years in New Orleans on Feb. 2 to belt out brand new jams and got a little help from Beyonce’s hubby, Jay-Z!
The DirecTV Super Bowl party was the place to be on Feb. 2. Not only did Justin Timberlake perform for over an hour, living legend Jay-Z also joined him on stage to perform their new single, “Suit & Tie.” We’re not saying that the halftime show isn’t going to blow us away, but Beyonce definitely has some steep competition!
JT & Jay-Z Drive Fans Wild
Outfitted (fittingly) in a slick tuxedo, Justin showed no signs of rust in his first performance in half a decade. Backed by a 10-piece band dubbed “The Tennessee Kids,” Justin cruised through a set of classics — like “Senorita” and “My Love” — and new, previously unheard songs.
The crowd bounced along with JT as he jumped into his new hit “Suit & Tie,” but they really went wild when Jay-Z strolled on stage unannounced. Also in a dressed-down tux (though disappointingly, not “all black everything”), Jay energetically threw down his verse and remained onstage until the song ended. Justin Timberlake Debuts New Music
Besides “Suit & Tie,” JT gave the audience a couple other new tracks from his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience, which comes out March 19. One of the new songs, “Pusher Love Girl,” featured slow, swinging R&B and further proved that Justin Timberlake is the new James Brown.
Seems like Justin likes making noise around Super Bowl time, In 2004, he “accidentally” exposed Janet Jackson in the most infamous wardrobe malfunction of all time.
We’re just gonna say it — Justin, you were great in Friends With Benefits and The Social Network, but THANK YOU for coming back to music, and bringing sexy back all over again. We missed hearing your voice and seeing you dance.
