The star looked so glam in a tousled side bun and bold red lips for her rousing performance of ‘America the Beautiful’ with the Sandy Hook Elementary School Chorus before Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013 in New Orleans, Louisiana — do YOU love the look? Vote below!
Grammy and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, 31, juxtaposed a tailored black and white ensemble with a piece-y side bun that looked incredibly chic. The singer paired the undone bun with a full set of asymmetrical fringe and matte red lipstick. Overall, she was elegant and fashion-forward!
Jennifer Hudson’s Super Bowl Beauty Look
Singing with the angelic student choir from Sandy Hook was such a sacred moment, it would’ve been inappropriate for Jennifer to go over the top with her hair and makeup. She had just the right amount of style and edge worn in a simplistic way. Her lips were bold yet the rest of her makeup was minimal. The only other accent on her face: a slightly winged black liquid liner worn just on her upper lash lines.
Jennifer debuted quite a different ‘do from looks we’ve previously seen her wear. Her strands were effortlessly swept in a side bun that had a messy-chic look. The singer paired her updo with a full set of thick layered bangs that were a bit jagged.
How To Wear Jennifer’s Hair & Makeup
There were several elements to Jennifer’s hair and makeup look that can be flattering on just about anyone. Big bangs like Jennifer’s can make your eyes pop, especially if they’re clipped to just above your eyelids. A bold, matte red lipstick brings out the whites of your eyes and even makes your teeth whiter! When choosing a red lipstick, generally cooler shades look best against fair skin while warmer, more orange reds are more flattering on those with darker skin tones.
