Liberty Ross filed for divorce from Rupert Sanders on Jan. 25, and although her marriage has been in shambles since his July 2012 affair with Kristen Stewart, we now know the REAL reason why she thought divorce was the ONLY option.
Liberty Ross’ Marriage Was In Shambles
Liberty, 34, couldn’t look past 41-year-old Rupert’s shocking affair with 22-year-old Kristen, and decided that ending the marriage was the only possible option.
“Liberty did all she could to try and save the marriage, but in the end she thought it would be best to walk away,” a friend of Liberty tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “They just couldn’t see eye to eye. Of course she is heartbroken, but the trust between them was completely destroyed and Liberty was humiliated. Liberty is a strong woman and will be just fine. Rupert is not taking it well at all. I can only imagine how Kristen feels — that her actions contributed to the break-up of a family.”
Liberty Ross Showed Signs That The Marriage Was Over
Although Liberty and Rupert had reportedly attending marriage counseling sessions in order to try to rehabilitate their relationship, it soon became clear that she was preparing for a life without him. Liberty began taking over the parenting duties of their two kids — Skyla and Tennyson — without the help of her husband.
She was also becoming more of a fixture on Hollywood dating scenes, reportedly forming a bond with music executive Jimmy Iovine.
Furthermore, her career was skyrocketing — she even released a topless photo spread on the same day that she filed!
