The fashionable First Lady donned a checkered coat for the occasion, looking perfectly polished for her husband’s big day — and we have all the details on her outfit right here!

All eyes were on Michelle Obama when she accompanied her husband and their daughters to a traditional Inaugural Day church service at St. John’s on Jan. 20. The fashionable First Lady turned up in a checkered Thom Browne coat for the big day. Underneath, she wore a matching dress by the same designer. A J. Crew belt and pumps completed her morning look and a statement Cathy Waterman necklace added the perfect finishing touch to her ensemble.

Michelle looked perfectly put-together in her outfit by the American designer — and her new bangs were her best accessory! Her signature ‘do and natural makeup added to her ensemble, and she looked appropriate and chic, as always! Michelle’s outfit was a fantastic choice, and it comes as no surprise considering the First Lady wore one of Thom Browne’s designs before. Michelle showed off a gray and black, short-sleeved lace dress back in October for the second Presidential Debate.

Her daughters seem to be following in their mom’s stylish footsteps, with both girls wearing colorful coats. Malia donned a J. Crew ensemble while Sasha wore a Kate Spade coat and dress. I love that the girls often show off bright colors — it’s so youthful and fun.

After the ceremony, the First Family will head over to the Capitol for the public Inauguration ceremony.

While Michelle looked lovely in her coat and dress this morning, it’s just a preview of a very fashionable day for the First Lady — and just last night she re-wore a sequin Michael Kors dress! For the swearing-in ceremony, Michelle selected a custom-made Reed Krakoff dress. We can’t wait to see what designer Michelle will wear tonight. While we still don’t know who she is going to wear, there is no doubt that she will look stunning when she turns up at the festivities this evening.

After the Inaugural festivities, the looks donned by Michelle, (and her accessories), will go to the National Archives. Thom Browne is an American designer who crafts both menswear and womenswear. Aside from Michelle Obama, his looks have been worn by Leighton Meester, Usher, and Jay-Z, to name a few.

What did you think of Michelle’s Inaugural day outfit? Did you like her checkered coat or do you wish she wore something more colorful like her daughters?

Gorgeous! Now repeat after me, “No more cardigan sweaters”. They make her look like a grandmotherly escapee from a twin set. It’s one thing to wear off the rack, another to look frumpy. Make it stop.

Yes, that is true! She’s also short waisted and those stupid little, short cardingans don’t help her at all…makes her dindrel dresses, or skirt part..miles long!!!!!!!!!!

The coat may have been gorgeous but did not fit correctly or Michelle would not have had to flatten it at the stomach or keep pulling it down every time she raised her arm to wave. No woman should have to keep rearranging the clothing they are wearing. You are walking for the nation to see – yet trying to hide the fact you are rearranging your outfit. Could not have been pleasant for her.

Agreed, it was too tight and not tailored correctly. Who’s minding that store?

I agree! So tight, I often wondered if she had anything under it, lol… They say she’s the best fashion icon First Lady…yeah? Did they forget the queen, Miss Jackeline Kennedy, gorgeous and perfect!!
