Poor Ian! The ‘Vampire Diaries’ star tweeted sad, yet adorable, pics of himself Jan. 21 outside President Barack Obama’s second inauguration ceremony.

Ian Somerhalder may look perfect, but as it turns out, he’s still human — and prone to making human mistakes. Ian, 34, was pumped to attend the 57th Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 21, but his White House dreams were crushed when he realized he lost his ticket to the big event! “Ahh! Who lost his ticket w/ great seats to the Presidential Inauguration while grabbing food?” the Vampire Diaries star tweeted to his 3.25 million followers. “THIS GUY! WTF?! BUMMMMER…”

If ever there was a day when Damon’s powers of compulsion would come in handy, it would definitely be today, as Ian tweeted about the “walls of impenetrable security” he was facing.

“Breakfast alone in DC sans inauguration ticket,” he later tweeted. “Time to get caught up on emails and tweets i guess-Meetings later to prepare for…”

Fortunately, Ian was able to catch the speech, offering up his praise to the POTUS:

“Time to get some major major stuff done Mr.President,” Ian tweeted. “Enjoy a day off sir,there will not be many more for 4 years!”

Ian may have missed out on seeing the inauguration up close, but fortunately, he’s come face to face with President Barack Obama before. The two spoke for the first time in Nov. 2012, a meeting of the minds Ian will never forget.

“It was a pretty surreal experience,” Ian told Zap2it. “I’d just flown in to LA from South America the night before, and I was leaving at noon again to go to Asia. I was up at 6 a.m. to have breakfast with the leader of the free world, and it just blew my mind — particularly because he was so humble.”

Ian and Barry chatted about Go Green Mobile Power — a sustainable portable energy company Ian co-founded — as well as general environmental issues, and how young people can get involved.
