Selena Gomez Sings Revenge Songs To Justin Bieber At UNICEF Concert

Selena Gomez rocked on Saturday Jan. 19, where she sang a series of cover songs at the UNICEF concert in New York City, taking aim at Justin Bieber in the process.

The acoustic show, held at the Best Buy Theater, raised $660,000 for UNICEF, thanks to Selena, 20, and her opening acts: Nat and Alex Wolff (The Naked Brothers), Noah Guthrie (YouTube sensation) and Bridgit Mendler from Disney’s Good Luck Charlie.

Selena sang a series of her hit songs including Round & Round and A Year Without Rain, but it was the suspicious cover songs that had our attention!

Selena Sings ‘Cry Me A River’

“I’ve been through a lot the last couple of months. It’s been sad and cool, but interesting. This song definitely speaks to me,” Selena told the crowd before singing Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River.” (This is so about Justin Bieber!)

At the end of the song, Selena let out a very sly laugh and then said, “Well, enough of that!”

Selena Sings ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’

Selena also took another swipe at Justin on Jan. 19, when she performed BFF Taylor Swift’s song “I Knew You Were Trouble.” (She’s done this before, when she filmed a music video for the song with her girlfriends.)

Selena told the crowd that she wanted to sing a song that her “best friend in the entire world” wrote. “If you’ve ever felt pain, you know this one,” she said before singing the tune. Throughout the song, Selena was smiling, but seemed really passionate about the lyrics. At the very end, she let out a very sly and intentional laugh.

New Music Ahead

On the bright side, Selena told the crowd that ”it feels so good to be back.” This was her first show in over a year. Her new album will be released later this year.

“I’m so excited to be recording new music, which I’m excited to play … but not today,” Selena teased her fans.

On Jan. 20, Justin Instagrammed a pic saying he was “Writing [his] heart out.”

Selena is cute. I’m not sure what kind of actress she is, but she is not a good singer. Most of these kids are better in a group rather than solo. It’s sad though that they all have to live their lives so publicly now. Glad I’m not a “star”

Selena! HELLO!!! You have had your BFF’s Vanessa Hudgens and Taylor Swift tell how to mend hour broken heart. You where with real men: Josh Hutcherson (20, caught dancing and flirting), Luke Bracey (23, holding hands), and now spotted with a mystery man in NY at your hotel, only to leave him behind in the car. You have had breakup songs. Is the Bieber fever that strong?? It looks like you’re standing on the bridge that you lit a match to, and is now on fire. Keep on going like you have, and you will be drowning in your own ‘Cry Me a River’, if not already, and Justin Bieber will have to pull you out.

Honestly, I don’t see the big deal in all of this. ‘Revenge’ songs? Ya right, she’s freaking heartbroken for goodness sake. No fucking DUH she’s going to sing a sad song! They are turning this into a big deal. Honestly, this is becoming to Taylor Swift-like for me.

getting over someone doesn’t happen over night. it will take some time. let’s just hope that she isn’t going to pull another taylor swift on us. I don’t think I could stand two of them.

I’m not a hater of Selena Gomez, but I do think that these songs were too much of a reach for her singing abilities. Now I’m not a singing professional, but this was not one of her best performances.
