In a new interview, Kristen reveals that ‘it’s fun to have freedom’ in acting, and how over-thinking things can make you mess up. Is her art imitating her life?
Kristen Stewart had a tough year in 2012, because she nearly lost her relationship with Robert Pattinson over her summer affair with her married director Rupert Sanders. Kristen gave a poignant interview to ELLE magazine before her affair was revealed, where she said that she her “life is so f**king perfect”, and she was waiting for “someone to f**k me over.” People immediately assumed that she was tempting fate. Now in a new interview released on Jan. 17, Kristen talks about filming On The Road, and she reveals how it’s “fun to have freedom and have, like, happy accidents” and how she was afraid she would “regret this entire experience.” Is Kristen’s work starting to reflect her troubled love life?
Kristen Talks About Happy Accidents
Kristen opened up to NOW Toronto about what it was like to play the role of Marylou in On The Road, and she was afraid she would ruin her experience by over thinking it.
“I tortured myself in the most amazing, wonderful way for four weeks,” she says to NOW Toronto, “and then as soon as the four weeks were done it was like, ‘You need to stop thinking, because if you don’t you’re gonna regret this entire experience. You’re gonna look back and say: I f**ked up. I thought too much.’”
Kristen says playing a real person –- LuAnne Henderson (Marylou) — is much different than when playing a fictional character.
“It’s always fun to have freedom and have, like, happy accidents where you go, ‘Wow, that’s cool, I didn’t expect that,’” she says. “But when you’re playing somebody who’s [actually] existed, you know.… I don’t want to discredit what it feels like to play a character who’s been written by somebody,” she continues.
Kristen’s Tangled Love Life
Kristen and Rob had a long road back to reconciliation when they split up last summer, but by the time Breaking Dawn: Part 2 premiered in November, they were totally back in love. By the end of 2012, the Twilight couple seemed to be stronger than ever, and they spent a romantic New Year‘s together in Rob’s hometown in London. But now, Rob dropped a MAJOR bombshell — he told Kristen he wants a trial separation while he is in Australia filming The Rover.
Kristen’s character Marylou had a famously tangled love life, as she was torn between Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund) and Sal Paradise (Sam Riley). Kristen’s talk of freedom and her fears of regrets are poignant, especially now since a source close to the actress told HollywoodLife.com that “she also knows she messed up with the whole Rupert thing — she just wishes Rob would move forward with the relationship instead of dwelling in the past.”
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Does Kristen’s life reflect her art? Is that why she so identifies with the role of Marylou?
