The First Lady debuted a dramatic new ‘do Jan. 17–full fringe! The cut is so flattering on Michelle, lending her a more youthful, trendy edge. Do YOU love the look as much as we do? Sound off!
Jan. 17 was a big day for Michelle Obama. The First Lady celebrated her 49th birthday, but she was the one handing out gifts! She debuted a second new Twitter account, @FLOTUS — and she revealed an edgy new haircut in the process! In a photo alongside Inaugural citizen co-chair David Hall, Michelle flaunted a dramatic new set of thick, face-framing bangs.
The First Lady was meeting with David to discuss the National Day of Service on Jan. 19, which is an annual event held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that seeks for people all over the country to volunteer in their communities. Michelle recently spoke with Us Weekly about why she feels it’s so important to give back to where you came from.
“My parents taught me from an early age that all of us can find time to give back. And throughout my life, whenever I’ve volunteered, I leave feeling like I’m getting as much as I’m giving.”
Michelle Obama Attracted To Barack Because Of His Commitment To Service
It’s this passion for service that drew her to her husband, President Barack Obama. “When I was first getting to know Barack, one of the things that stood out was his commitment to serving others,” she said. “When we got married and started a family, we decided that we’d make service a central part of everything we do, and now we’re trying to pass that on to our girls [Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11], as well.”
Michelle’s Passion For Fashion
During the Obama family’s first four years in the White House, the world learned not only of Michelle’s dedication to service, but her passion for fashion, as well. With the 57th Presidential Inauguration coming up on Jan. 21, the First Lady has a big decision to make: Who will she wear?
Women’s Wear Daily says that she will most likely were one of eight lucky contenders: Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Naeem Kham, Marchesa, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu (whose gown she wore at the last inauguration in 2009), Bibhu Mohapatra, and Thakoon Panichgul. We can’t wait to see what she she settles on!
