Now that Ben Affleck has dropped out of ‘Focus’ due to scheduling conflicts, Kristen needs a new leading man. HollywoodLife.com spoke to some of the industry’s best casting directors who shared their top picks.
Calling all hot male actors, Kristen Stewart is in need of a new, sexy co-star to share the screen with her in the upcoming movie, Focus. Both Bradley Cooper and Ryan Gosling get the thumbs up, but what about Robert Pattinson?
One of Hollywood’s leading casting directors, Doron Ofir tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “Given the opportunity to create a leading man wish list for Focus, I’d aggressively put out role offers to an elite men’s club!”
‘Focus’ is the Perfect Movie For Kristen Stewart
“With Kristen’s stunning performance turn in Twilight Breaking Dawn 2, I have a renewed hope that the Hollywood leading starlet can carry her own in Focus! We have yet to see her comedic ability, whereas not in an ironic manner, her co-star would need to possibly do so some heavy lifting,” says Doron.
“A modern romcom (romantic comedy) is a perfect turn for a Hollywood leading man and Kristen to catapult her and him into a new mass audience obsession,” explains Doron.
Top Choices & Not-So-Good Choices For Ben Affleck’s Replacement
“My first choice would be Bradley Cooper after his heat in Silver Lining Playbook, and his comedic turn in the megahit The Hangover. He is a perfect candidate,” says Doron. “Followed by Ryan Gosling, his smoldering appeal and true acting chops could ignite a new legion of fans.
However, Joseph Gordon-Levitt with an obsessive male and female fan base, an epic rise and proven romcom comedic appeal begins to eclipse my short list. Toss in Shia LeBouf and Channing Tatum and we have a ladies’ swoon fest.
Matt Damon‘s everyday charm and historical comedic timing could prove a winning combination.
Lets not discount Mark Wahlberg who killed it in Ted and remains on fire!
I would toss out contenders – Leonardo DiCaprio (meh), Chris Hemsworth (zero chemistry in Snow White), Tom Hardy (lack of comedy chops), Christian Bale (too intense).”
Veteran casting director Stephanie Corsalini Ligorner agrees with Doron when it comes to Bradley and Ryan.
Stephanie tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “I would consider casting any of these actors for the role, they include Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Matt Damon, Christian Bale and Channing Tatum. Chris Pine would be good too.”
Robert Pattinson–Hit Or Miss?
And as far as Rob is concerned?
“No,” says Stephanie. “From what I read, it’s about an older con artist who takes a younger girl under his wing, and they develop a romance. Rob is too young and it’s not exciting seeing them together.”
Doron agrees, simply telling us, “Rob Pattinson (been there, done that).”
Aww, looks like no one really wants to see Rob in that role! Personally, I would love to see Mark Wahlberg up on the big screen opposite Kristen. He’s a hottie and they would have dynamite chemistry! HollywoodLifers, who would YOU love to see opposite Kristen?
