Kristen talks about her controversial role in ‘On The Road’, where she says that dancing crazily was harder than taking off her clothes, because she was ‘mad intimidated’ to dance like Marylou.

For the Feb. 2013 issue of W magazine, Twilight star Kristen Stewart gave a revealing interview where she revealed that she found filming the explicit nude scenes in On The Road easier than doing the energetic dance scene with co-star Garrett Hedlund. Huh?

Kristen Found Dancing Harder Than Nude Scenes

Kristen opened up to W, where she says the nude scenes — involving a threesome between her, Garrett and Sam Riley — were a walk in the park to film in comparison to the dancing scene.

“Everyone asks about the nude scenes in On The Road, but I also had to dance, and dancing is harder than being naked,” says Kristen. “My character, Marylou, is so exuberant, and I had five minutes to do something that showed she was sort of like the craziest motherf**ker around. In the book, it says, ‘Dean takes Marylou and they do a love dance and no one can take their eyes off them.’ It’s one sentence. And I was mad intimidated by it.”

“We did the dance four times to the song ‘Salt Peanut’,” continues Kristen. “By the end, I was as red as fire truck. I was holding onto Garrett because I was going to fall over. I almost passed out ever single time.”

Kristen has proved over the years that she is super shy and does not enjoy the limelight, so it is easy to see why she would not enjoy dancing. But the sex scenes? Well, she did say she was sexually assertive, just like Marylou.

Kristen Talks About Playing Marylou

Kristen says that in Jack Kerouac‘s novel, Marylou had the power to “jump off the page and smack you in the face.” To prepare for her role, Kristen met with LuAnne Henderson’s daughter — LuAnne being the “real life” Marylou — to chat and get a glimpse of how she truly was.

“You wouldn’t be attracted to a project if you had to fake it,” Kristen said to Vulture.com about the role. Though MaryLou is more sexually assertive than the other roles Kristen has played, she claims, “I don’t feel like I’m stepping outside of myself when I’m playing parts. Even if it’s really different from the apparent version of who I am, I’m always somewhere deep in there.”
