Taylor Swift, 22, rocked an Old Hollywood style updo that was a definite departure for the star. The singer usually rocks beachy waves and bangs better than anyone, but for this star-studded event, she took her look retro with a sophisticated roll. Taylor looked totally grownup in the high fashion-inspired hairstyle.

We almost didn’t recognize our favorite country cross over star with her hair worn back in a low bun and bangs slicked back and crafted into a sophisticated side-parted upsweep. Taylor’s hair and makeup was the perfect elegant match to her dark plum Donna Karan Atelier gown that featured a dramatic fishtail-flared silhouette, sheer paneling down the side and a daringly low back detail. Her hair and makeup is a welcome change for the usually safe star. It’s so nice to see the star playing with different beauty looks for every red carpet event as of late.

A long-time spokeswoman for CoverGirl cosmetics, Taylor’s wholesome blonde haired, blue-eyed beauty has become almost iconic. The star is not surprisingly quite the beauty junkie, revealing to Vanity Fair her bevy of favorite beauty products and buys.
