Britney appears to be following L.A. Reid’s lead, as a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that a report claiming Britney quit ‘The X Factor’ is ‘true.’

The Queen of Pop, Britney Spears, is quitting her role as a judge on The X Factor to focus on her career, TMZ originally reported. Britney, who mentored Carly Rose Sonenclar to the final in December 2012, is said to be returning to the studio to focus on a new album, and she has decided that she will not have time to commit to X Factor. After months of rumors that she would not be asked back because producers found her “boring”, it now looks like she jumped the gun on them and quit before they could sack her!

Britney Spears Leaving ‘X Factor': Brit-Brit’s Official Statement

A source close to the situation tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, “Talk of Britney not returning to The X Factor is true. Her people wanted to save face and come out with her leaving and ‘working on her album’ rather than not being asked back, which was going to happen. Simon decided that he would let her go out gracefully, so it didn’t look like she was fired or not asked back, which was going to happen.”

Britney’s Reasons For Quitting

Britney is said to be quitting because she wants to focus on her music, and possibly go on tour later this year, reports TMZ. “Britney loves Simon [Cowell], she likes Demi Lovato but her thing is music,” a source tells the website. Britney is currently in the studio recording her new album with Will.i.am and the producer Hit-Boy. Judging by her latest single “Scream And Shout”, it sounds like her new album is going to be awesome!

On Jan. 7, Britney fueled rumors that she is dedicating this year to her music by tweeting, “I’m seeing so much chatter about new music out there. Glad to see you’re all paying attention ;) Lot of work to do in 2013! LETS GO!”

HollywoodLife.com previously reported that Britney would not be returning to The X Factor, because producers thought she was boring, and with her a $15 million fee, she is too expensive.

“Britney will get the boot… Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn’t working.” a source told Us Weekly. “They paid all that for her to say ‘amazing’ and offer half-claps. He (Simon) wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney.”

The Future Of ‘X Factor’

The future of The X Factor looks uncertain, although it looks likely that Simon and Demi will return. Britney is calling it a day, and L.A. Reid called it quits in December. He advised that Rihanna could take his part (now that we would watch)! If we can’t have Princess Britney, at least we can have RiRi.

What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Should Britney have quit The X Factor? Will you miss Britney?

Whether Brittney quit or was going to be fired anyway, I’m a little bummed she’s leaving the show. I liked her facial expressions the most. This leaves me wondering who will be next to fill her spot. My DISH coworker first told me about this change in the show, we’ve both watched every season. I like to record it on my DISH Hopper with the PrimeTime Anytime feature since I’m never home when it’s on. I set this up to record all primetime programming that comes on the four major networks. I save time not having to set up any individual timers.

Britney was about the only honest voice on the show and the one who called it right, even when politics got in the way.
But sincere judging from those who still ply their craft is not what we wanted. We wanted a show of judging — God forbid the real from those still in the trenches.
If you wonder if Britney is the real thing, you need only watch her direct the setup of the stage in her next performance.
Pure genius and no bull.

She is NO singer, and doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Need someone who has talent and has been in the business for more than a couple of days!!!!
