Congrats Taylor! She took home the award for Favorite Country Artist at the People’s Choice Awards on Jan. 9 but she almost didn’t get to keep it! See what happened!
The 2013 People’s Choice Awards kicked off on a high note, with nods to Twilight and Psy, but we started laughing hysterically when Taylor Swift won her award! Presenter Olivia Munn joked that it was so awkward that Taylor had won and pretended to keep her award from her! Taylor out-Kanyed her by joking, “This always happens to me…God!”
In her speech, Taylor said:
“I wanna thank the fans because this is a fan voted award and I absolutely love you with all of my heart. I wanna thank radio and I wanna thank the fans for calling radio and being like, ‘Play her music’ — thank you for doing that. You guys have blown my mind with what you’ve done for this album Red and I just wanna thank you for caring about my music and for caring about me. Thank you so much you guys, I love you.”
Wishing She Was There With Harry Styles?
Taylor choked up a little during the “caring about me” part — do you think she was thinking about her break up with Harry Styles?
It was a little awkward as she left the stage, because they started playing One Direction‘s “Live While We’re Young” — oops!
Adam Levine Gets Jealous Of Taylor’s Speech
Taylor’s speech was so good, she even got a nod from the next winner — Adam Levine from Maroon 5! He said:
“God Taylor Swift was super charming and I’m trying to think of something to say and it’s not happening. She said, ‘This always happens.’ That’s genius, by the way. Dammit. Damn you Swift!”
