It is most likely that he was either cremated or buried, claimed with a private funeral already. They will not announce it yet due to an angry mob that would mutilate his corpse and grave site. Since he is well hated upon, I do believe that his funeral was swift and silently done. Even if the funeral was heavily watched by police, it wouldn’t stop people determined to get at his corpse, eventually. To avoid any confrontation, they mostly likely had the funeral done fast and very hush hush. They will probably announce it a week from now, his already finished funeral and by then no one will have a clue to his remains where-about. You can’t keep a corpse long at any mortuary or funeral home, unclaimed. Even in heavy refrigeration storage, a corpse breaks down and liquifies after so many days. Funeral directors most likely don’t wait at that point, they push till something is done with the body, claimed or unclaimed. He is most likely already buried with a service of small amount of family members.

I really hope so. I think it is sad if he isn’t claimed that is really awful, he will always be their son and brother, no matter what may have happened, they still loved him even thought they don’t love what he did and what happened. they loved him at some time, they should show him that..

It must be very difficult to come to terms and accept as a parent the horrendous actions of a child. Nonetheless, the body has to be laid to rest, at least cremated and scatter the ashes or bury them in an undisclosed location. I cannot even begin to comprehend the anguish the father and brother must be feeling. Still, Adam’s body needs to be claimed. No services or memorials for him; a cremation and a disposal is sufficient, so we as a nation can move on and heal.

Why give Adam Lanza respect? I agree that there should be no service or memorial, but I think a “post-mortem execution” (this happened to Oliver Cromwell and several historical figures) would be quite fitting

Shame on the father and brother for not claiming Adam Lanza. He is your flesh and blood no matter what he did. God is not going to let either of you two in Heaven for abandoning Adam. At least give permission to have his body donated for science. Maybe Adam had a tumor to make him go and do what he did. What he did to those children and teachers will never, ever be understood. For the people here who are talking so ugly about Adam, shame on you. If Adam was your brother/son would you leave him unclaimed?

Yes Id leave him unclaimed…sorry but this is something you cannot forgive and tbh anyone who takes their own life or someone elses then theirs shouldnt have money spent on them by giving them a furneral. He killed and then killed himself-Suicide is something I believe is very selfish and if you have lost someone before their time to a sickness or accident youd agree because im sure they would want to be here and living. If you hate yourself so bad and want to die then do it and dont expect respect as a furneral if you couldnt respect yourself, family, and others. SIMPLE AS THAT

Michelle, It’s so obvious you’re kids weren’t at this school. It’s so nice that you can happily send off your kids to school without a second thought to their safety after this. For most other parents, this idiot has destroyed any sense of safety we used to have. By the way, despite what you may want others to think…it’s very obvious that you don’t know there’s only one way into heaven, through Jesus Christ. You may be of non-Christian belief in which case that would explain it. But doing good deeds or failing to do so (despite the good points one may earn) are not going to keep you in or out of heaven. So, if his dad and brother decide not to claim him it’s not going to be THE reason they’re not accepted in to heaven. Plus, from what I understand they’re catholic, like suicides, they’re may be some sort of rule about having a service in his memory. A funeral may be out of the question by default.

Shame on them? I don’t think so. Adam Lanza deserves no respect. Anyhow, if the medical examiner says there was a tumor, perhaps the mother saw signs and failed to get help.
As for your question, there are many who would say “yes”

No, his father should NOT claim the body unless it is to do the following: Adam Lanza’s body needs to be “executed” after death. In history humans have “executed” corpses in revenge, destroying them and mutilating them – Oliver Cromwell was said to have experienced this. We need to do that to Adam Lanza. He has caused hatred to grow in many people. Let them take out their hatred on the deserving target: Adam Lanza himself.

The father has been out of contact with Adam Lanza. News reports say the mother has enabled Lanza to access guns. She is dead, but her estate can be ransacked to pay off the families. Also IF those media reports are correct, HER body should be denied burial and tossed into the ocean. The body of her son should be given a “post-death execution” like many corpses in human history have experienced (Oliver Cromwell was “executed” after he was already dead)

Maria said: “So I guess any parent killed by their child shouldnt get a furneral”
Maria, based on the media reports (and I have every right to judge her based on these reports) Adam Lanza’s mother had **responsibility** for the attacks – She **allowed** Adam Lanza to touch guns **when she knew he was disturbed** and she left her guns unsecured **when she knew he was disturbed**
She was murdered by her own child **as a consequence of her own irresponsible actions**

The father was excluded by Adam Lanza after his remarriage in 2009. He and Nancy Lanza were separated eight years prior. If there was estrangement, it was by Adam’s choice.

As to proper burial, Vincent Tomoh, desecration should be beneath any moral and civilized person. One is not required to give honors to the dishonored and disliked, but one is required for one’s own sake and that of a society that wishes to be decent in disposing of the remains of the dead. You seem to lack an adult moral sensibility.

No one it the family of Lanza can say what was done to treat him if anything. Maybe divorce was over to treator not to treat, to commit or not to commit. Maybe the father and brother distance themselves because they disagreed with the mother and knew something had would happen. Of this was the case, I would never claim him. He did such wrong. Best to have an out of town funeral home arrange local collection and cremation and transport to the family. Burial in an unmarked columbarium or family grave with later marking, or lawful cremains dispersal as an alternative.

The Dunblane killer was cremated. I strongly disagree with that – After all good organs have been harvested and after all needed parts are donated to science, we should hold a “post-death execution” of Adam Lanza, like what was done with Oliver Cromwell when his rivals came back to power. After the ceremony is over, toss the pieces in the garbage and let the birds pick at it

I would tell his father he should let the body be “executed post-mortem” like Oliver Cromwell was. I’m sure his father hates his guts and would be glad to see his son humiliated after death.

Being mentally ill does not make you a killer. My sister is mentally ill and she will never get access to a gun because we are aware she cannot handle that huge of responsibility, even I’m in my 6 sense it is scary to hold a gun. Guns must be difficult to reach for people with mental illness. He killed so many innocent people, I think this tragedy goes beyond just mentally ill, how can this family have guns in a place where this psycho could reach without any safety. He is a killer, and how could you have sympathy for someone who did not hesitate you shoot his own mother, he could stopped right there! why he had to go a drive out of own way to go and kill for more. it is understanding that his own family is disgusted in buried this monster who probably did not have a job and was feeling sorry for himself all day long! being mentally ill does not make you an excuse for killing so many innocent life’s. My question is why and how he had access to guns at his house if he was a psycho path, feeling sorry for his life for being so miserable. People, we got to see what is fair here and what is logical! Because he knew what he was doing as he shoot himself right after he killed angels and I think having a person who is mentally ill having access to guns it is so ridiculous. I do not blame his family for not claiming his body because he is a killer and it is so ironic he realized he was a killer when he saw so many people dead around him and did not stopped at the first shot he had to keep going and see the fear of every innocent little person there.

That is why he did the terrible shooting in the first place? He felt nobody cared about him. I blame his mother for what he did. If she didn’t have the guns he wouldn’t have been able to get them.I’m pretty sure his dad divorced him when he divorced his mom.A lot of men ditch the children when the marriage ends. His dad should go claim the body and cremate him or whatever so there is no grave for people to desecrate. I,m sure his parents were in denial about his problems no matter what their friends say.People lie all the time about whats going on behind closed doors. All these people are dead because woman decides to buy dangerous weapons and expose her mentally ill son to them.MR LANZA, GO CLAIM YOUR SONS BODY AND CREMATE OR BURY HIM. YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY AS WELL. YOU CHECKED OUT ON HIM AND IT ENDED BADLY FOR YOUR EX BUT ALSO THESE OTHER FAMILIES.YOU KNEW HE HAD PROBLEMS AND LEFT IT UP TO YOUR EX TO HANDLE IT WHILE YOU LIVED YOUR LIFE AS IF YOU HAD NO SON. Even Hitler was someone’s offspring. Some people are so repulsive that even their parents hate them. I admire a “everything will be better if we just hug” viewpoint but I know that the reality is terrible and cruel; Adam Lanza was a despicable, horrible being. We can have our revenge on him **and** not sink to his level/become him/etc. We can “execute” him post-mortem and then release our hatreds, leave him in a garbage dump, glad that we have “conquered” him

Because we are not taking it out on innocent victims, and instead are taking it out on the cause of our sorrows, on a deserving target, we are not sinking to his level. We are not becoming savages, because it is human nature to hate, and to want to cause aggression. Those forces can, and should be, used for good causes. Causing **fear** and **intimidation** in sociopaths by using our hate to avenge the dead and humiliate Adam Lanza is a good thing for society.

Why is it when ever somebody does something heinous, IMMEDIATELY.the bleeding heart linerals say he had a mental problem? He killed those little kids because he was jealous of the joy his MOM had with them when she volunteered at Sandy Hook elementary. He had become increasingly violent at home, his Mom was going to commit him, she TOLD him. That’s WHY he did it. He wasn’t bullied, he WASN’T a victim, he certainly WASN’T NEGLECTED either!

Of course we should have screening to stop spree killers, learn from Lanza’s brain, improve school security in a cost-effective manner, etc. but we must also score a personal victory, humiliate Lanza, and intimidate and put fear in any possible future spree killers

The father of Adam Lanza is just as guilty of murdering those people and the suicide of his son as if he was the one who pulled the triggers. He was a negligent father. The most important person in a man’s life is his FATHER. Even in death, Peter Lanza, the father of Adam Lanza, shows contempt for his mentally ill son. Perhaps mental illness is a result of alienation from one’s father. So sad.

He had mental problems. You don’t have that. It is difficult and sad to understand why? But, mentally ill people need treatment and medical attention. Unfortunately, he came from a disfuntional family where his Dad abandoned his mom. A mother stress out and not knowing how to handle a kid and being in charge 100%. I believe isolation, lack of affection, without a father, lack of contact with his only brothe, medical, psychological and psychiatric attention contribute to do what he did? It is so horrible tragedy and my heart goes to the families involved in this masacre. It is a complex and sad situation.

To blame the father is really unfair. By all accounts he saw Adam regularly until he re-married when Adam cut him off. Some kids are just totally self-absorbed and one cannot penetrate their world. The father is distancing himself from Adam, which clearly demonstrates his disapproval. If you feel THAT strongly that Adam’s body should be claimed, why don’t you initiate a collection for that purpose? Always easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize.

I completely agree with you. Mr. Lanza was not a Dad for his kids. He divorced his wife and was very easy to abandon his mentally ill child providing his ex-wife with money. Money don’t buy happines. His kid needed him and he just left without guilt. He needed attention, love and a family. He is guilty of all. Hope he can life the rest of his life with that remorse and guilt. My son, no matter what. I’d atleast stand up like a man and bury him. Get you’re head out of the sand father.

I agree with Leslie – his father should claim Adam’s body or at least contact his former in-laws and have the same funeral home take care of Adam’s body that took care of Nancy’s. At least, out-of-state – there would be less brouhaha, hopefully.

I totally agree. At least Mr. Lanza must do that. Adam was after all his flesh and blood.

But she shouldn’t be given what she wants. She was negligent.
Her body should be tossed in the ocean in a non-descript area, and denied burial
His body should be “executed” post mortem (many historical figures were given posthumous executions) and savaged into pulp

His father abandoned him with the mother and married another. He hadn’t seen him in a long time, he was just as responsible for what happened as the stupid mother buying guns. He knew his child wasn’t normal and dumped him on her. He needs to man the hell up and claim his son. Even if he doesn’t attend the funeral, he needs to be responsible for the child he had with the mom. Hidding, sneeking away, seems to be his MO!!

The father of Adam Lanza should have to pay financially in a civil suit filed by those who were killed by his sick son. Peter Lanza used his time and energy to greedily make a financial fortune and therefore he should legally have to pay for the destruction of lives due to his son’s actions.

Only his son was 20 years old and responsible for his own actions. Why exactly would his father have to pay?

No, his mother should. His father has been out of contact for years.
His mother let him touch the guns.

I find it terrible that his father and brother hasn’t claimed his body. Makes me wonder how they must have treated him when he was here. No, I’m not defending him. If it were my kid, no matter what he did, I would at least bury him. Smh

I agree with Racheda & Deb. Someone should show the father this article and get him to do the right thing.

I find it GREAT that his father and brother haven’t claimed the body. The body of Adam Lanza needs a posthostumous execution and a savaging, and then being thrown in a garbage dump
