Kim plays a disagreeable something-or-other in her grandest big-screen role yet!
Listen up, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: Kim Kardashian is in it to win it! The reality star-turned-pop sensation displays formidable acting chops in the just-released trailer for Tyler Perry‘s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor as Ava. Stealing the spotlight from lesser actresses like Vanessa Williams and Brandy Norwood, Kim sparkles on the screen as she ruthlessly cuts down her co-star for wearing a cheap blouse.
But don’t for a second think that Kim’s character is one-note. Along with being a cutthroat something — I honestly don’t know what Ava’s job is based on this trailer or any official description for the film — she also displays remarkable vulnerability. For example, when her co-worker makes a comment about her dress, she responds, “What’s wrong with my dress?”
Her performance gives me chills, you hear me? Chills!
And I’m not the only person who has faith in Kim’s acting future. HollywoodLife.com recently spoke with Tyler Perry, himself, who said he’s confident Kim has a bright acting career ahead of her.
“I was very pleased with Kim’s performance,” he told us Oct. 18 at the Cinema Society’s screening of Alex Cross. “I didn’t try to push her at all; she was never uncomfortable. Her portrayal of the character was definitely real. … I think she could [have an acting career] if she wants one.”
But enough about Kim’s Oscar destiny. Let’s talk about the actual stars of the film: Jurnee Smollett and Robbie Jones, who teen TV junkies will fondly remember as Jess on Friday Night Lights and Quentin on One Tree Hill, respectively. They play a married couple who, as the title suggests, eventually need the assistance of a counselor to make all their problems go away.
UPDATE: It’s possible Jurnee’s character is actually married to the other guy, and Robbie’s character is the man she cheats with. To be honest, this movie is very complicated.
