The pro snowboarder and two-time Olympic gold medalist has ditched his long shaggy curls for a shorter, tamer ‘do. Do YOU love his new style or are you mourning the loss of his famous tresses? Sound off below!
Shaun White, 26, is almost as famous for his flowing, fiery red locks as he is for his snowboarding skills. After all, he is the Flying Tomato! He shocked us all by cutting off his signature style — but it’s for a good cause!
This bold haircut choice was documented by Shaun in a YouTube video chronicling the cut. After one last flip of his voluminous curls, he bravely went through with his decision! He was definitely second-guessing himself after getting in the stylist’s chair, and he looked anxious and worried as it was happening, but there was no turning back after the first few snips.
This decision was a last minute move on Shaun’s part, as he didn’t let anyone around him know that he was making the cut. Shaun decided to donate his entire ponytail to Locks of Love, a charity that uses donated hair to create wigs for financially disadvantaged children suffering from hair loss or medical conditions that cause long-term hair loss. “I did it for you, Locks of Love,” he says in the YouTube video. Haircut justified!
While we applaud his social consciousness, we are simply shocked that he switched up his sporty style! His new shorter cut looks more mature and business casual: so not what we picture on an edgy pro snowboarder! We wonder if he is going to eventually try to grow it out again.
